The National Election Authority in Egypt announced the final list of candidates for the Senate elections, which included the names of 428 candidates under the individual system and their electoral symbols out of a total of 469 candidates who submitted their nomination papers, following the end of the period for considering electoral appeals and the disqualification of 41 candidates against whom judicial rulings were issued.

The final list included the names of 100 candidates under the list system and an equal number as reserves. Concurrently, the electoral campaign began, which will continue until July 31.

On Thursday, the National Election Authority received all judicial rulings issued in the electoral appeals of the candidates, which were approved by adding the accepted names and removing those disqualified by judicial decision, in accordance with the provisions of Article 210 of the Constitution, which entrusted the Supreme Administrative Court with the jurisdiction to rule on appeals regarding the decisions of the Authority related to referendums and presidential and parliamentary elections and their results, while the Administrative Court was entrusted with the jurisdiction to rule on appeals regarding local elections.

With the announcement of the preliminary list, the electoral campaign period for the candidates began yesterday, starting from the date of announcing the final list of candidates until twelve noon on the day before the specified voting date. Each candidate for membership in the Senate, whether under the individual system or the list system, has the right to prepare and conduct an electoral campaign to address voters and convince them of their electoral program, through the publication and distribution of electoral campaign materials, placing posters and banners according to the conditions and duration specified by the relevant administrative authority, and using audio, visual, printed, and electronic media, among other activities, freely by all means permitted by law.

The National Election Authority requested that candidates under both the individual and list systems adhere to the provisions of the Constitution and law, as well as the decisions issued by the Authority prohibiting any infringement on the sanctity of citizens' private lives or the candidates themselves, or engaging in promotional activities that could threaten national unity, or using religious slogans, or resorting to violence or threats of violence, or using state-owned buildings and facilities or public sector companies, or using public utilities, places of worship, universities, schools, and university cities, or writing by any means on the walls of government or private buildings, or offering gifts, donations, or cash or in-kind assistance.

The National Election Authority confirmed that after the stage of announcing the final list of candidates, the stage of candidates' withdrawals from each other will follow, with the final deadline for withdrawal from candidacy being the day after tomorrow (Sunday).

On July 31, the electoral campaign will end, and the period of electoral silence will begin. The National Election Authority designated the locations of Egyptian diplomatic missions and consulates abroad as polling stations to receive Egyptians abroad for voting in the Senate elections on August 1 and 2. Voting abroad will start from 9 AM until 9 PM according to the time of the country where the voting takes place, with the first polling stations opening for Egyptians abroad being the Egyptian embassy in New Zealand, where there is an 11-hour time difference between Egypt and New Zealand, and California in the USA will be the last polling station to close its voting doors.
