حذرت سفيرة بريطانيا لدى اليمن عبدة شريف اليوم (الإثنين) من خطورة الاستهدافات الحوثية للسفن في المياه الإقليمية الدولية، مؤكدة أن الهجمات تنذر بكارثة بيئية.
وكتبت عبدة شريف على حسابها في «إكس»: «الهجوم المروّع الذي شنّه الحوثيون على السفينة (MV Magic Seas) لم يعرّض حياة الطاقم الأبرياء للخطر فحسب، بل أسفر أيضاً عن إلحاق أضرار بسفينة أخرى في البحر الأحمر، ما يزيد من خطر وقوع كارثة بيئية ويُهدّد عبور السلع الأساسية والمساعدات الإنسانية إلى اليمن»، مضيفة: «إن فشل القادة الحوثيين في احترام حرية الملاحة في البحر الأحمر لا يزال يتسبب في دمار اقتصادي ويقوّض استقرار اليمن ورفاهية شعبه».
وكانت الولايات المتحدة قد أدانت بشدة هجوم الحوثي على السفينة التجارية «ماجيك سيز»، بينما كانت تعبر البحر الأحمر بسلام في طريقها إلى مصر، موضحة في بيان نشرته السفارة الأمريكية لدى اليمن أن هذا الهجوم يعد الأحدث في سلسلة من الهجمات المتهورة التي استهدفت السفن التجارية والأطقم المدنية في البحر الأحمر على مدار الـ18 شهراً الماضية.
وأشارت السفارة إلى أن هذه الهجمات تشكل تهديداً للأمن البحري العالمي والتجارة الدولية، وتهدد بإلحاق أضرار بيئية بهذا الممر المائي الحيوي، ما قد يُدمر الثروة السمكية وصناعاتها في اليمن.
وكانت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية قد قالت إنه جرى إنقاذ طاقم السفينة التي اشتعلت فيها النيران جراء هجوم في البحر الأحمر أمس (الأحد)، مبينة أنهم غادروها في أعقاب تسرب المياه إليها، وأنهم بخير وجرى إنقاذهم عبر سفينة تجارية عابرة.
وأقر الحوثيون بوقوفهم وراء إغراق السفينة المستهدفة في البحر الاحمر «ماجيك سيز»، مؤكدين على لسان متحدثهم يحيى سريع غرق السفينة بشكل كامل بعد استهدافها من قبلهم وانهم وثقوا غرقها بالصورة.
من جهة أخرى، أعلن جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الليلة الماضية استهداف موانئ الحديدة ورأس عيسى والصليف، مشيراً إلى أن نحو 20 طائرة مقاتلة شاركت بشن غارات على مواقع الحوثي في اليمن، وتم إلقاء نحو 60 قنبلة على أهداف حوثية، كما جرى استهداف السفينة «غالاكسي ليدر» التي يحتجزها الحوثيون منذ أشهر.
The British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, warned today (Monday) about the dangers of Houthi targeting of ships in international territorial waters, emphasizing that the attacks herald an environmental disaster.
Abda Sharif wrote on her account on "X": "The horrific attack launched by the Houthis on the ship (MV Magic Seas) not only endangered the lives of innocent crew members but also caused damage to another vessel in the Red Sea, increasing the risk of an environmental catastrophe and threatening the passage of essential goods and humanitarian aid to Yemen," adding: "The failure of Houthi leaders to respect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea continues to cause economic devastation and undermines the stability of Yemen and the well-being of its people."
The United States strongly condemned the Houthi attack on the commercial vessel "Magic Seas" while it was peacefully crossing the Red Sea on its way to Egypt, stating in a statement published by the U.S. Embassy in Yemen that this attack is the latest in a series of reckless assaults targeting commercial ships and civilian crews in the Red Sea over the past 18 months.
The embassy noted that these attacks pose a threat to global maritime security and international trade, and threaten to cause environmental damage to this vital waterway, which could destroy fish stocks and their industries in Yemen.
The British Maritime Trade Operations reported that the crew of the ship that caught fire due to an attack in the Red Sea yesterday (Sunday) was rescued, indicating that they left the ship following water ingress and that they are safe and were rescued by a passing commercial vessel.
The Houthis admitted to being behind the sinking of the targeted ship in the Red Sea, "Magic Seas," confirming through their spokesperson Yahya Saree that the ship sank completely after being targeted by them and that they documented its sinking with photographs.
On another note, the Israeli occupation army announced last night that it targeted the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Isa, and Salif, indicating that about 20 fighter jets participated in launching raids on Houthi positions in Yemen, dropping about 60 bombs on Houthi targets, and also targeting the ship "Galaxy Leader," which the Houthis have been holding for months.
