Hundreds of fires have erupted in Syria, Turkey, Greece, and France, consuming large areas of forests, and the fires continue to blaze for the fourth day in several areas of rural Latakia, amid fears of worsening the environmental and humanitarian disaster, after approximately 6,000 hectares of agricultural land and forests have burned, according to Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Raed Saleh.
In the United States, floods and torrential rains have swept through large areas in Texas in the southern part of the country, yesterday, Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 50 people, including 15 children, according to local authorities, while 37 are still missing, including 27 girls.
The material losses are estimated at around 1.5 billion dollars, including homes, infrastructure, and agriculture.
In Pakistan, 64 people have died, nearly half of them children, over the course of a week due to sudden floods or house collapses caused by heavy rains from the monsoon.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country, bordering Afghanistan, recorded the highest death toll, with 23 people killed, including 10 children.
Despite rescue efforts and attempts by firefighters, the fires are still raging, some of which are out of control in several countries as of now.
