The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Damascus is ready to cooperate with Washington to return to the disengagement agreement of 1974 with Israel.
According to a statement from the ministry issued today (Friday), Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani expressed during a call with his American counterpart Marco Rubio Syria's desire to collaborate with the United States to return to the 1974 disengagement agreement. He indicated that the two sides discussed the repeated Israeli attacks on southern Syria.
Israeli forces infiltrated several locations in the Yarmouk Basin in the countryside of Daraa province in southern Syria this morning. Local Syrian media reported that 6 vehicles belonging to the Israeli forces penetrated the village of Saysoon in the Yarmouk Basin west of Daraa.
It was reported that an Israeli force consisting of 3 vehicles entered a former military detachment belonging to the 112th Brigade of the former regime's forces, located on the outskirts of the village of Ain Zakhar in the Yarmouk Basin.
Syrian media confirmed that this incursion is the second since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8 of last year, as the military detachment had previously entered and carried out acts of sabotage and leveling within it.
Syrian sources have reported that intensive talks are being held under American pressure to reach a peace agreement, confirming that there are pressures on the American mediator to agree to a less severe option, such as announcing security arrangements along the Syrian-Israeli border, which would include an Israeli withdrawal from all Syrian territories it entered after December 8, in exchange for a Syrian declaration that the two countries are no longer in a state of war.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated at a press conference last Monday that Israel is interested in establishing official diplomatic relations with Syria and Lebanon.
