أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الصومالية اليوم (السبت) قتل 37 من عناصر حركة الشباب بينهم قياديون في عملية تم التخطيط لها بإقليم جوبا السفلي، موضحة أن قوات النخبة بالجيش الصومالي نفذت العملية.
وقالت الوزارة في بيان إن العملية التي تمت بالتنسيق مع الشركاء الدوليين، جرت في قرية ماكوقها الواقعة بمنطقة جوبا السفلى، موضحة أن الجيش الصومالي «سيواصل هجومه واسع النطاق لتفكيك الشبكة الإرهابية».
وأشارت إلى أن «مثل هذه العمليات دليل واضح على التزام قواتنا المسلحة الثابت بالدفاع عن الوطن وحماية المدنيين وضمان الاستقرار الدائم»، مشددة على أن القتال مستمر «للقضاء على حركة الشباب على جميع الجبهات».
واستهدفت غارة جوية منزلاً في بلدة «آدم يبال» في إقليم شبيلي الوسطى كان يجتمع فيه عناصر من حركة الشباب الصومالية التابعة لتنظيم القاعدة، وبحسب الحكومة الصومالية فإن الهجوم نفذه الجيش بالتعاون بين وكالة الاستخبارات والأمن الوطني الصومالية والشركاء الدوليين.
وأشارت إلى أن المنزل المستهدف بالغارة الجوية يقع في حي «هولوداغ» في «آدم يبال»، مبينة أن العناصر المجتمعين في المنزل تكبدوا خسائر فادحة.
وزار قائد القوات البرية في الجيش الوطني الصومالي، الجنرال سهل عبدالله عمر، خطوط المواجهة في إقليم شبيلي الوسطى لتشجيع القوات في حربها ضد الإرهابيين التي يجري الجيش عملياته فيها بنجاح، مشيداً بالنجاجات التي يحققها الجيش الوطني الصومالي والقوات المحلية وتوجيههم ضربة قاصمة لمسلحي حركة الشباب خلال الأيام القليلة الماضية، وسيطرته على مناطق كانت خاضعة لها.
The Somali Ministry of Defense announced today (Saturday) the killing of 37 members of the Al-Shabaab movement, including leaders, in an operation planned in the Lower Juba region, stating that the elite forces of the Somali army carried out the operation.
The ministry said in a statement that the operation, which was conducted in coordination with international partners, took place in the village of Makokha located in the Lower Juba area, clarifying that the Somali army "will continue its wide-ranging offensive to dismantle the terrorist network."
It pointed out that "such operations are clear evidence of our armed forces' steadfast commitment to defending the homeland, protecting civilians, and ensuring lasting stability," emphasizing that the fighting continues "to eliminate Al-Shabaab on all fronts."
An airstrike targeted a house in the town of "Adam Yabal" in the Middle Shabelle region where members of the Al-Shabaab movement affiliated with Al-Qaeda were gathering. According to the Somali government, the attack was carried out by the army in cooperation with the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency and international partners.
It noted that the targeted house in the airstrike is located in the "Holodag" neighborhood in "Adam Yabal," indicating that the individuals gathered in the house suffered heavy losses.
The commander of the ground forces of the Somali National Army, General Sahel Abdullah Omar, visited the front lines in the Middle Shabelle region to encourage the forces in their war against terrorists, in which the army is successfully conducting operations, praising the successes achieved by the Somali National Army and local forces and their significant blow to Al-Shabaab militants in recent days, as well as their control over areas that were previously under its influence.
