Russia and Ukraine exchanged a new group of prisoners today (Thursday) as part of the Istanbul agreements, after both countries announced earlier this week the exchange of war prisoners who are under 25 years old.

The "RT" channel reported a source close to the Russian negotiating delegation saying: "A new phase of prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine has just taken place under the Istanbul agreements, and the exchange was equal in terms of numbers, with work in this direction continuing."

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his account on the "X" platform: "We continue the exchanges, and we have made another step forward; today, soldiers of the armed forces, the national guard, and border guards are returning home, most of whom have been in captivity since 2022," emphasizing: "We are doing our utmost to find everyone and verify the information for each name."

He added: "We must bring all our people back home; I thank everyone who helps us in this endeavor," showcasing photos of those released as part of the exchange deal between Kyiv and Moscow.

This exchange is a continuation of the previous steps in the broad prisoner exchange deal agreed upon by both parties for the first time on May 16 in Istanbul.

Ukraine and Russia exchanged accusations today regarding the attacks that targeted cities and villages in both countries over the past hours.

Ukrainian authorities accused Russia today of launching airstrikes that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of two others in the Kherson region in the south of the country. According to the governor of the region, Oleksandr Prokudin, the strike targeted the village of Tavryske.

The regional military administration reported that guided bombs hit a residential building, injuring a person who was in their apartment, and the airstrikes in the Korabelny area resulted in the injury of a woman in her seventies.
