On the backdrop of the occupation's massacres, an American consulting group has terminated its contract with a U.S.- and Israel-backed organization that runs an initiative to distribute aid to the starving residents of the Gaza Strip, according to the Washington Post.

The American newspaper revealed today (Tuesday) that the "Boston Consulting Group" withdrew its team working on the ground in Tel Aviv last Friday.

A spokesperson for the group, which was contracted to help design the program and manage its business operations, stated that the company ended its contract with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and granted leave to one of the senior partners leading the project, pending an internal review.

It pointed out that the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" initiative to feed the residents of Gaza faced difficulties during the first week of its operations, following the resignation of two senior executives, the Israeli army firing on crowds of Palestinians rushing to collect aid packages, and the ongoing refusal by the United Nations and humanitarian partners to join the efforts.

The newspaper quoted three sources close to the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" and the consulting group, who requested anonymity, saying: "It will be difficult for the foundation to continue its work without the consultants who contributed to its establishment."

It is noted that aid distribution is being carried out by the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" at four locations in the strip, after Israel eased a nearly three-month blockade on Gaza under international pressure.

The foundation has faced widespread criticism from the international community on the grounds that its methods would only lead to the forced displacement of Palestinians, and its executive director resigned last month due to a lack of "independence and neutrality."

A spokesperson for the group added that the company provided "voluntary" support for the humanitarian operation and would not charge for any of the work it did on behalf of the foundation, while another person familiar with the group's operations disputed this account, stating that the group submitted monthly bills exceeding one million U.S. dollars. The foundation clarified in an email that it distributed more than 7 million meals during the first eight days of its operations.

For their part, Palestinian health officials accused Israeli forces of killing dozens of Palestinians and injuring others near a site for distributing food aid in the southern part of the strip.

The foundation's aid plan faces severe criticism, especially from the United Nations and other charitable organizations.
