Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati informed the American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Wittekov, during a phone call today (Sunday) about the critical importance of stopping the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the necessity for full access to humanitarian aid for the region, and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between Egypt and the United States regarding the situation in Gaza and the Middle East.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry clarified in a statement that the call addressed the joint efforts being made by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to reach a deal that ensures a ceasefire in the region, the release of hostages and a number of prisoners, and full access to aid. It emphasized the necessity of reaching a permanent solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that fulfills the aspirations of the peoples of the region and embodies Trump's vision advocating for comprehensive peace in the area.

For his part, the American envoy affirmed his country's appreciation for the role that Egypt plays in the current mediation efforts to reach an agreement that stops the war and ensures the release of hostages and the flow of aid.

The statement also indicated that the call addressed developments in the indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding the Iranian nuclear program. The Foreign Minister listened to the American envoy's assessments regarding the developments in the negotiations, expressing Egypt's support for the American-Iranian talks and what they represent as an important opportunity to achieve de-escalation and reduce tensions in the region, preventing it from slipping into complete chaos.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit the Egyptian capital, Cairo, tomorrow (Monday) as part of a tour that also includes Lebanon. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei, the visit aims to discuss bilateral relations and consult on the latest developments in the region.

On another note, Hamas welcomed the continued Qatari and Egyptian efforts to reach an end to the war in Gaza, affirming in a statement today its readiness to immediately engage in a new round of indirect negotiations to reach an agreement on points of contention, ensuring relief for the Palestinian people and ending the humanitarian tragedy, leading to a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation.
