أثارت النائب الجمهوري عن ولاية فلوريدا، راندي فاين، موجة غضب واسعة بعد دعوته إلى استخدام الأسلحة النووية ضد قطاع غزة، مشبّهاً ذلك بالقصف النووي الأمريكي لمدينتي هيروشيما وناغازاكي خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية.
وخلال مقابلة تلفزيونية مع قناة «فوكس نيوز» الأمريكية في أعقاب هجوم استهدف موظفين في السفارة الإسرائيلية أمام المتحف اليهودي بواشنطن، قال فاين: «الحقيقة أن القضية الفلسطينية قضية شريرة، والنهاية الوحيدة للصراع هي الاستسلام التام والكامل لمن يدعمون الإرهاب».
وعندما سئل عن محادثات وقف إطلاق النار في غزة الجارية حالياً وإن كانت ستوقف عمليات مثل إطلاق النار وقتل موظفي سفارة إسرائيل بأمريكا، أجاب: «السبيل الوحيد لانهاء الصراع هو الاستسلام التام والشامل، في الحرب العالمية الثانية، لم نتفاوض على استسلام النازيين، ولم نتفاوض على استسلام اليابانيين، قصفنا اليابانيين مرتين نووياً للحصول على استسلام غير مشروط، ويجب أن يكون الأمر نفسه هنا، هناك أمر خاطئ عميق جداً في هذه الثقافة ونحتاج هزيمتها».
أشعلت تصريحات فاين موجة انتقادات حادة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي والمنظمات الحقوقية، ووصف نشطاء التصريح بـ«الفاشي» و«التحريض على الإبادة الجماعية»، مطالبين بمحاسبة النائب.
وأدانت الحملة الدولية للقضاء على الأسلحة النووية تصريحات النائب الأمريكي، وحذرت من أن استخدام الأسلحة النووية سيؤدي إلى «قتل جماعي ومعاناة هائلة»، ولن ينهي الصراع بل سيزيده تعقيداً، فيما التزم البيت الأبيض الصمت حتى الآن، مما زاد من حدة الانتقادات التي وجهت للإدارة الأمريكية بسبب عدم اتخاذ موقف واضح.
من جهته أصدر مجلس العلاقات الأمريكية الإسلامية أو ما يُعرف باسم «CAIR» بياناً أدان بشدة التصريح الأخير الذي أدلى به عضو الكونغرس عن ولاية فلوريدا راندي فاين والذي دعا فيه إلى إبادة غزة نووياً، وحث الزعماء الجمهوريين والديمقراطيين على اتخاذ إجراءات فورية للتنديد علناً بخطابه الإبادي وإبعاده من جميع اللجان والكتل البرلمانية.
وأضاف المجلس: «هذا التصريح يُمثل تحريضاً صريحاً على العنف، ويُعرّض المسلمين الأمريكيين والفلسطينيين للخطر، وذلك من خلال دعوته إلى إبادة جماعية نووية ضد أكثر من مليوني فلسطيني، نصفهم من الأطفال، ويُمثل هذا التصريح أحد أخطر التصريحات وأكثرها إهانةً للإنسانية التي أدلى بها عضو حالي في الكونغرس، ويُمثل تصعيداً لنمط فاين المُستمر في التحريض على العنف والتعصب».
The Republican representative from Florida, Randy Fine, sparked widespread outrage after his call to use nuclear weapons against the Gaza Strip, likening it to the American nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
During a television interview with the American channel "Fox News" following an attack targeting employees at the Israeli embassy in front of the Jewish Museum in Washington, Fine said: "The truth is that the Palestinian issue is an evil issue, and the only end to the conflict is the complete and total surrender of those who support terrorism."
When asked about the ongoing ceasefire talks in Gaza and whether they would stop actions such as the shooting and killing of Israeli embassy staff in America, he replied: "The only way to end the conflict is total and complete surrender. In World War II, we did not negotiate the surrender of the Nazis, and we did not negotiate the surrender of the Japanese; we bombed the Japanese twice with nuclear weapons to achieve unconditional surrender, and it should be the same here. There is something very deeply wrong in this culture, and we need to defeat it."
Fine's statements ignited a wave of sharp criticism on social media platforms and from human rights organizations, with activists describing the remarks as "fascist" and "incitement to genocide," demanding accountability for the representative.
The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons condemned the American representative's statements, warning that the use of nuclear weapons would lead to "mass killing and immense suffering," and would not end the conflict but rather complicate it further, while the White House has remained silent so far, increasing the intensity of the criticism directed at the U.S. administration for not taking a clear stance.
For its part, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, known as "CAIR," issued a statement strongly condemning the recent remarks made by Florida Congressman Randy Fine, in which he called for the nuclear extermination of Gaza, urging Republican and Democratic leaders to take immediate action to publicly denounce his genocidal rhetoric and remove him from all committees and parliamentary blocs.
The council added: "This statement represents a blatant incitement to violence, endangering American Muslims and Palestinians, through his call for nuclear genocide against more than two million Palestinians, half of whom are children. This statement represents one of the most dangerous and offensive remarks to humanity made by a current member of Congress and signifies an escalation of Fine's ongoing pattern of incitement to violence and bigotry."
