The 34th Arab Summit, held in Baghdad today (Saturday), called for an end to the war on Gaza, condemning Israel's attempts to displace Palestinians from the enclave.

The summit clarified in its statement that the Palestinian issue is central, emphasizing the urgent need to halt the war in Gaza.

The summit urged the international community and influential countries to assume their moral and legal responsibilities to pressure for an end to the bloodshed and to ensure the unhindered delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to all areas in need in Gaza, calling on all countries to provide political, financial, and legal support for the joint Arab-Islamic plan regarding reconstruction and early recovery in Gaza, which was adopted by the emergency Arab summit in Cairo last March and by the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation the same month in Jeddah.

The "Iraq Declaration" welcomed the proposals and initiatives put forward by Arab countries to establish a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza, affirming the importance of joint coordination to pressure for the opening of all crossings for the delivery of humanitarian aid to all Palestinian territories.

The statement stressed the necessity of a peaceful, just, and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue, announcing support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's call for an international peace conference and for taking irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.

It called for the deployment of international protection and peacekeeping forces from the United Nations in the occupied Palestinian territories until the two-state solution is implemented. It also urged the United Nations Security Council to take necessary measures to implement the "two-state solution."

The Arab summit called on all Palestinian factions to agree on a comprehensive national project and a unified strategic vision, appreciating the positions of European countries, including Spain, Norway, and Ireland, in recognizing the State of Palestine and supporting South Africa in its legal action against Israel.

Regarding developments in Syria, the declaration affirmed respect for the choices of the Syrian people, in all their components and spectra, and emphasized the importance of Syria's security and stability, which reflect on the security and stability of the region, supporting the unity of Syrian territory, rejecting all interventions in internal affairs, and condemning the ongoing Israeli assaults on Syrian territory, violating its sovereignty and attempting to undermine and destroy its national capabilities.

The declaration stressed the need to move forward with a comprehensive transitional political process that preserves diversity and societal peace, while respecting the beliefs and sanctities of all segments and components of the Syrian people, and rebuilding Syria, welcoming in this regard the recent announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump to lift sanctions on Syria.

The statement called for adopting a comprehensive national dialogue conference that includes the components of the Syrian people, appreciating the readiness of the presidency of the current Arab summit - Iraq - to host the conference in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Arab League, to ensure the achievement of Syrian national interests and to guarantee effective participation, enhancing societal coexistence in Syria.

The summit confirmed support for Lebanon in facing challenges and maintaining its security, stability, and territorial integrity, protecting its internationally recognized borders against any assaults on them and on the state's sovereignty, welcoming municipal elections, encouraging all political entities to reach understanding and to avoid exclusionary language, and to implement necessary economic reforms. It also affirmed full solidarity with Yemen in preserving its sovereignty and unity and supporting efforts to achieve stability and security, to end the state of war and division, and to find solutions through internal dialogue.

It emphasized the importance of finding a political solution to stop the conflict in Sudan in a manner that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the safety of its people, and stressed the necessity of allowing safe passage for humanitarian workers. The statement called on all parties to engage in initiatives to resolve the crisis, such as the Jeddah Declaration initiative and others.

The Arab summit welcomed the statement issued by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which called for unifying platforms to resolve the crisis in Sudan.

The "Baghdad Declaration" affirmed support for Libya and resolving its crisis through national dialogue while preserving the unity of the state, achieving the aspirations of its people and its lasting stability, rejecting all forms of interference in its internal affairs, and calling for the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from its territory within a specified timeframe.

The statement called on all parties in Libya to continue the political process and achieve national reconciliation, stressing the necessity of establishing a zone free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East in accordance with agreed references. The statement emphasized that water security is a fundamental pillar of Arab national security, affirming in this context the importance of supporting the efforts of Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, and Syria to ensure their legitimate water rights.

The statement pointed out the steadfast position of Arab countries in condemning all forms and patterns of terrorism and the ideas associated with it, combating organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and money laundering, welcoming Iraq's efforts to confront and combat the presence and threats of terrorism.

The statement called for activating deterrent measures to combat hate speech, extremism, and incitement, expressing the support of Arab leaders for talks between Iran and the United States to reach positive outcomes for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, appreciating the role of the Sultanate of Oman in these talks, and emphasizing the importance of close cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
