بين قسوة الجبال الشاهقة والمخاطر المتربصة عند كل منعطف، عادت «عقبة الجعدة» ببلّحمر لتسجيل فصلاً جديداً من فصول المعاناة، فقد اهتزت المنطقة الشمالية لمدينة أبها على وقع حادث مروري مروع، بعدما هوت مركبة من علو شاهق في العقبة. وأكدت مصادر لـ«عكاظ» أن الفاجعة أسفرت عن مصرع 6 أشخاص وإصابة 4 آخرين، لا يزالون يرقدون تحت الرعاية الطبية في مستشفيات المنطقة. هذه المأساة لم تكن مجرد حادث عابر، بل صرخة متجددة أحيت مطالب الأهالي بضرورة التفاتة عاجلة لاستكمال مشاريع السلامة ومعالجة النقاط السوداء الأكثر خطورة على طول الطريق.
شريان حيوي
وأوضح عبده بن ناصر الأحمري (نائب قبيلتي آل العلاء وآل مكثّر فرشاط تهامة بلحمر)، أن عقبة الجعدة تمثل الشريان النابض الذي يربط سراة بلّحمر بتهامة، إذ تشهد تدفقاً يومياً هائلاً للمواطنين، والمقيمين، والطلاب، والموظفين، إضافة إلى قوافل السياح خلال موسم الصيف، ما يجعلها من أهم المحاور الجبلية الحيوية في منطقة عسير.
وأعرب الأحمري عن تقدير الجميع للجهود الواضحة التي تبذلها الجهات المعنية لتطوير شبكة الطرق، مستشهداً بما شهدته العقبة سابقاً من أعمال سفلتة، وتحسين للمسارات، وإنارة، وهي خطوات محل ثناء بهدف تيسير التنقل.
منعطفات الموت وتحديات المناخ
وأضاف الأحمري: «رغم تلك الجهود المباركة، لا تزال العقبة تحتفظ بنقاط ضعف قاتلة تتمثل في منحنيات حادة وعرة، تتحول إلى مصيدة حقيقية للسائقين، لاسيما عند هطول الأمطار الكثيفة وتشكُّل الضباب الكثيف الذي يحجب الرؤية».
ولفت الأحمري إلى أن الذاكرة المحلية للعقبة مثقلة بالحوادث المؤلمة على مدار سنوات، داعياً الجهات المختصة إلى صياغة حلول هندسية عاجلة؛ كإعادة تصميم المنحنيات الخطرة، وزرع حواجز خرسانية (صبات) وسياجات حديدية متينة لمنع سقوط المركبات، مدعومة بلوحات إرشادية مكثفة وعواكس أرضية تضيء عتمة الطريق والضباب، مؤكداً أن هذه المطالب تنبع من ثقة الأهالي بحرص ولاة الأمر على حفظ الأرواح وجعل الطرق أكثر أماناً، سائلاً المولى أن يتغمد الضحايا بواسع رحمته.
مخاطر مضاعفة
من جانبه، شدد المحامي نايف بن فهد على الأهمية الإستراتيجية للطريق الذي يسلكه مئات الموظفين والطلاب يومياً في رحلة الذهاب والإياب، ما يضعهم في مواجهة يومية مستمرة مع المخاطر جراء نقص بعض وسائل السلامة في مواقع حيوية.
وأشار إلى أن الوضع يزداد تعقيداً وخطورة خلال فصل الشتاء؛ إذ تتضافر الأمطار الغزيرة مع انهيارات الأتربة وتساقط الصخور من الجبال المحيطة، وهو ما يرفع احتمالية وقوع الكوارث بشكل تصاعدي، ويتطلب تسريع وتيرة المشاريع الوقائية بما يتلاءم مع حجم الحركة المرورية الكثيفة على هذا الطريق الحيوي، حفاظاً على الأرواح المارة به.

The northern region of Abha was shaken by a horrific traffic accident, after a vehicle plunged from a great height in the pass. Sources confirmed to "Okaz" that the tragedy resulted in the death of 6 people and the injury of 4 others, who are still under medical care in the region's hospitals. This tragedy was not just a fleeting accident, but a renewed cry that revived the residents' demands for urgent attention to complete safety projects and address the most dangerous black spots along the road.
A Vital Artery
Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Ahmari (Deputy of the Al-Alah and Al-Makthar tribes in Farshat Tihama Balhamr) explained that Aqbat Al-Ja'dah represents the vital artery that connects the heights of Balhamr with Tihama, witnessing a tremendous daily influx of citizens, residents, students, and employees, in addition to tourist caravans during the summer season, making it one of the most important vital mountain routes in the Asir region.
Al-Ahmari expressed everyone's appreciation for the clear efforts made by the concerned authorities to develop the road network, citing the previous asphalt work, improvement of paths, and lighting in the pass, which are commendable steps aimed at facilitating transportation.
Deathly Turns and Climate Challenges
Al-Ahmari added: "Despite these blessed efforts, the pass still retains deadly weaknesses represented by steep, rugged curves that turn into real traps for drivers, especially during heavy rains and the formation of thick fog that obscures visibility."
He pointed out that the local memory of the pass is burdened with painful accidents over the years, calling on the relevant authorities to devise urgent engineering solutions; such as redesigning dangerous curves, planting concrete barriers (blocks), and sturdy iron fences to prevent vehicles from falling, supported by intensive signage and ground reflectors to illuminate the darkness of the road and fog, emphasizing that these demands stem from the residents' confidence in the authorities' concern for preserving lives and making roads safer, asking the Almighty to envelop the victims in His vast mercy.
Multiplying Risks
For his part, lawyer Nayef bin Fahd stressed the strategic importance of the road that hundreds of employees and students travel daily in their commutes, placing them in a continuous daily confrontation with risks due to the lack of some safety measures in vital locations.
He pointed out that the situation becomes more complicated and dangerous during the winter season; as heavy rains combine with soil collapses and falling rocks from the surrounding mountains, which increases the likelihood of disasters exponentially, requiring an acceleration of preventive projects to match the volume of heavy traffic on this vital road, in order to preserve the lives of those passing through it.
