في خطوة تعكس توجه المملكة نحو استقطاب الكفاءات العالمية، صدرت الموافقة السامية على منح الجنسية السعودية لكلٍّ من رائد الأعمال الأمريكي ترافيس كالانيك، الشريك المؤسس لشركة «أوبر»، وجون باغانو، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة البحر الأحمر الدولية.
استقطاب المبدعين ضمن مستهدفات رؤية 2030
تأتي هذه الخطوة ضمن مبادرات المملكة الهادفة إلى تمكين العقول المبدعة واستقطاب الخبرات المتميزة في مختلف المجالات، بما ينسجم مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030 الرامية إلى بناء اقتصاد متنوع قائم على المعرفة والابتكار.
ترافيس كالانيك.. مسيرة ريادية عالمية
ويمثل كل من كالانيك وباغانو نموذجين لرواد أعمال أسهموا في تطوير قطاعات حيوية؛ فالأول يُعد أحد أبرز الأسماء في عالم الشركات التقنية والناشئة، إذ قاد شركة «أوبر» منذ تأسيسها إلى أن بلغت قيمتها السوقية نحو 150 مليار دولار. ويشغل اليوم منصب الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة «كلاود كيتشنز» المتخصصة في المطابخ السحابية، والتي توسعت عملياتها لتشمل الشرق الأوسط تحت العلامة التجارية «كتشن بارك». كما أسس صندوقاً استثمارياً يحمل اسم«10100» لدعم المشاريع في مجالات العقار والتجارة الإلكترونية والابتكار.
جون باغانو.. قيادة المشاريع السياحية الكبرى
أما جون باغانو، الذي يقود حالياً مجموعة البحر الأحمر الدولية، فيمتلك خبرة تمتد لأربعة عقود في تطوير المشاريع السياحية الكبرى. أشرف سابقاً على إنشاء منتجع «باها مار» في جزر البهاما بقيمة 3.6 مليار دولار، ويقود اليوم تطوير مشروعي البحر الأحمر وأمالا بعد اندماجهما في عام 2022، ما جعله ضمن قائمة «قادة السفر والسياحة» لمجلة فوربس الشرق الأوسط لعام 2024.
In a move that reflects the Kingdom's direction towards attracting global talents, the royal approval has been granted to grant Saudi citizenship to both American entrepreneur Travis Kalanick, co-founder of Uber, and John Pagano, CEO of the Red Sea International Company.

Travis Kalanick.. A Global Entrepreneurial Journey
Both Kalanick and Pagano represent models of entrepreneurs who have contributed to the development of vital sectors; the former is considered one of the most prominent names in the world of tech and startup companies, having led Uber from its inception to a market value of about $150 billion. He currently serves as the CEO of Cloud Kitchens, a company specializing in cloud kitchens, which has expanded its operations to the Middle East under the brand name Kitchen Park. He has also established an investment fund named "10100" to support projects in the fields of real estate, e-commerce, and innovation.
John Pagano.. Leading Major Tourism Projects
As for John Pagano, who currently leads the Red Sea International Company, he has four decades of experience in developing major tourism projects. He previously oversaw the establishment of the $3.6 billion Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas, and today he leads the development of the Red Sea and Amaala projects after their merger in 2022, placing him on the list of "Leaders in Travel and Tourism" by Forbes Middle East for 2024.
