حصدت السعودية 175 صوتاً من بين 184 دولة، في المجلس التنفيذي لمنظمة الطيران المدني الدولي «الإيكاو» للفترة 2026-2027-2028م، محافظة على عضويتها منذ عام 1986م، وذلك لدورها القيادي في صنع القرارات العالمية في مجال الطيران المدني عبر مبادراتها وتطبيقها أعلى الممارسات العالمية، خلال أعمال الجمعية العمومية الـ42 للمنظمة التي أقيمت في كندا.
وأعيد انتخاب المملكة لعضوية مجلس منظمة «الإيكاو» خلال عملية التصويت التي شاركت فيها الدول الأعضاء البالغ عددها 184 دولة في الأمم المتحدة لتواصل المملكة بموجب هذا الفوز حضورها الفاعل في المجلس للفترة من 2026-2028.
ويضم مجلس «الإيكاو» 36 دولة من بين أبرز القوى الرائدة في مجال الطيران، من بينها الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وفرنسا، وسنغافورة، والمملكة المتحدة؛ مما يعكس مكانة المملكة وثقلها الدولي في هذا القطاع الحيوي، إلى جانب إتاحة هذا الفوز للمملكة، مواصلة دورها العالمي، وتأكيد حضورها كصوت مؤثر يسهم في رسم سياسات وتوجهات صناعة الطيران المدني على مختلف الأصعدة.
ونوّه وزير النقل والخدمات اللوجستية رئيس مجلس إدارة الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني المهندس صالح الجاسر بأهمية هذا الانتخاب بالنسبة للمملكة، مشيراً إلى أنه منذ تأسيس شركة الطيران الأولى في المملكة عام 1945، أثبتت المملكة، بدعم غير محدود من القيادة، التزامها وعملها الدؤوب تجاه قطاع الطيران على الصعيدين المحلي والدولي.
وأكد مضي المملكة برؤية ولي العهد من خلال ترسيخ دورها القيادي العالمي في قطاع الطيران، منوها بأن هذا الانتخاب يعكس الإسهامات القيّمة للمملكة في تطوير السياسات العالمية لقطاع الطيران، ويمثل إشادة واسعة بالجهود الحثيثة التي تبذلها المملكة لتكون مركزاً للربط الجوي بين القارات الثلاث بما يحقق مستهدفات الإستراتيجية الوطنية للنقل والخدمات اللوجستية، مثمنا للدول الأعضاء في منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي دعمها للدور الريادي الذي تؤديه المملكة.
من جانبه، عدّ رئيس الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني عبدالعزيز الدعيلج تجديد عضوية المملكة في مجلس منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي «الإيكاو» ما يرسّخ استمرار حضور المملكة الفاعل في المجلس للفترة من 2026 حتى 2028، محافظة على عضويتها منذ انضمامها للمجلس عام 1986م تجسيدا للتقدير والإشادة الكبيرة التي تحظى بها لقاء إسهاماتها ومبادراتها في قطاع الطيران المدني العالمي، متضمنا الفرص التنموية الاستثنائية التي أتاحتها من خلال برنامج الطيران المنبثق عن الإستراتيجية الوطنية للنقل والخدمات اللوجستية، منوهاً بالسعي من خلال منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي إلى بناء الشراكات الدولية وتوقيع الاتفاقيات الثنائية الجديدة التي ستدعم الأهداف الطموحة لبرنامج الطيران لتسيير الرحلات الجوية إلى 250 وجهة عالمية ومضاعفة أعداد المسافرين بحلول عام 2030.

Saudi Arabia garnered 175 votes out of 184 countries in the Executive Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the period 2026-2027-2028, maintaining its membership since 1986, due to its leadership role in making global decisions in civil aviation through its initiatives and the application of the highest global practices during the 42nd General Assembly of the organization held in Canada.
The Kingdom was re-elected to the ICAO Council during the voting process in which member states, totaling 184 countries in the United Nations, participated, allowing the Kingdom to continue its active presence in the council for the period from 2026 to 2028.
The ICAO Council includes 36 countries among the leading powers in the field of aviation, including the United States, France, Singapore, and the United Kingdom; reflecting the Kingdom's status and international weight in this vital sector. This victory also enables the Kingdom to continue its global role and affirm its presence as an influential voice contributing to shaping policies and directions in the civil aviation industry at various levels.
The Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, emphasized the importance of this election for the Kingdom, pointing out that since the establishment of the first airline in the Kingdom in 1945, the Kingdom has proven, with unlimited support from the leadership, its commitment and diligent work towards the aviation sector at both local and international levels.
The Kingdom is committed to the vision of the Crown Prince by consolidating its global leadership role in the aviation sector, noting that this election reflects the valuable contributions of the Kingdom in developing global aviation policies and represents a broad acknowledgment of the diligent efforts made by the Kingdom to be a hub for air connectivity between the three continents, achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. He appreciated the support of the member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization for the pioneering role played by the Kingdom.
For his part, the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, considered the renewal of the Kingdom's membership in the ICAO Council as a reinforcement of the Kingdom's continued active presence in the council from 2026 to 2028, maintaining its membership since joining the council in 1986, embodying the great appreciation and recognition it receives for its contributions and initiatives in the global civil aviation sector. This includes the exceptional developmental opportunities provided through the aviation program stemming from the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, highlighting the efforts to build international partnerships and sign new bilateral agreements through the International Civil Aviation Organization that will support the ambitious goals of the aviation program to operate flights to 250 global destinations and double the number of passengers by 2030.
