The King Abdulaziz Foundation revealed to "Okaz" an important aspect of the intellectual and leadership legacy of the founding king, confirming that the unification project he established as the foundation of the modern Saudi state was not limited to unifying the land and sovereignty, but also included building minds and establishing knowledge as a basis for development and advancement.
The foundation stated that King Abdulaziz realized early on that true renaissance can only be built on knowledge and work, and that the future can only be shaped by a conscious generation that bears the responsibility of construction. In the year 1350 AH / 1931 AD, during the graduation ceremony of the students of the Saudi Scientific Institute, he delivered immortal words that are still present in the national memory.
In his speech to the students, he said: "O my sons, you are the first fruit that our hands have planted, so know that what we expect from you is knowledge, and know that knowledge is a great endeavor. We do not know from God as we know of continuous support, and he who teaches you does not know, a little knowledge is blessed, and better than much that is not blessed, and the lesson is in action."
The King Abdulaziz Foundation pointed out that the founder's words did not only encourage learning but also linked knowledge to Arab and Islamic identity, emphasizing that religion and language are the pillars of belonging and strength. He said: "Your religion is the preserved book, Allah the Almighty, Muhammad (peace be upon him), revealed to Muhammad from the heavens, in the land of the Arabs, in clear Arabic. So know the value of that and preserve your religion, your language, your nation, and your homeland."
The foundation explained that what the founding king left behind was not just a passing speech, but a national will that resonates even today, as he affirmed that knowledge is a responsibility and work is a foundation, and that the homeland, religion, and language are an indispensable identity. This will formed the cornerstone of the Kingdom's journey towards renaissance and progress, establishing that building a person is as important as building a state.
The foundation concluded its discussion with "Okaz" by emphasizing that the words of King Abdulaziz have become part of the living national memory, passed down through generations, inspiring lessons in knowledge, commitment, and work for the homeland, to remain an inspiring approach and a guiding light for the people of the Kingdom in the journey of development and construction led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
