استقبل الأمين العام لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي حسين إبراهيم طه، بمقر الأمانة العامة، المدير التنفيذي للهيئة الدائمة المستقلة لحقوق الإنسان المعين حديثاً الدكتور هادي بن علي اليامي.
وخلال اللقاء، قدم الأمين العام تهانيه للمدير التنفيذي الجديد، مُعرباً عن تمنياته له بالنجاح ودعمه لدور وجهود الهيئة.
ويُعد الدكتور اليامي من الكفاءات البارزة في مجال حقوق الإنسان والعمل التشريعي والقانوني، إذ يتمتع بخبرة واسعة في المناصب التشريعية والحقوقية، شغل خلالها مواقع قيادية متعددة، من أبرزها: عضو مجلس الشورى لدورتين متتاليتين (السابعة والثامنة)، وكان له إسهام بارز في اللجان التشريعية والاجتماعية، عضو هيئة حقوق الإنسان لولايتين، الأولى والثانية، إذ عمل على تطوير برامج الحماية وتعزيز الوعي الحقوقي، ورئيس اللجنة العربية لحقوق الإنسان بجامعة الدول العربية لمدة أربع سنوات، قاد خلالها جهود تطوير الآلية العربية المعنية بالمتابعة والتقارير، كما يرأس مجلس إدارة جمعية «إحسان» للخدمات القانونية، التي تُعنى بتمكين الفئات المستحقة من الوصول إلى العدالة.
يحمل الدكتور اليامي درجة الدكتوراه في القانون، وهو أستاذ القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان في عدد من الجامعات السعودية وله مشاركات دولية وإقليمية واسعة، وساهم في إعداد سياسات وتشريعات وطنية في مجالات الحوكمة والحقوق والبيئة، إضافةً إلى خبرته في الدبلوماسية الحقوقية على المستوى العربي.
من جانبه، عبّر المدير التنفيذي عن شكره للأمين العام على دعمه المستمر للهيئة الدائمة المستقلة لحقوق الإنسان، مؤكداً استعداده لمواصلة التعاون مع الأمانة العامة في ضوء العمل التكاملي لمؤسسات المنظمة.
وبهذه المناسبة، أعرب الدكتور هادي بن علي اليامي عن عظيم شكره وامتنانه لخادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين على هذه الثقة الغالية، مؤكداً أن هذا التكليف يُعد مسؤولية وطنية ودولية جسيمة، وقال: أتشرّف بأن أرفع أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان لمقام خادم الحرمين الشريفين، وولي العهد على هذه الثقة الكريمة.
وتحظى الهيئة الدائمة المستقلة لحقوق الإنسان بأهمية إستراتيجية كونها أول جهاز حقوقي متخصص ضمن منظومة منظمة التعاون الإسلامي، وتضطلع بمهمات متعددة تشمل تعزيز مبادئ حقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية في الدول الأعضاء، ومتابعة الالتزامات الحقوقية، وتوثيق الانتهاكات التي تتعرض لها الشعوب الإسلامية، إلى جانب إعداد الدراسات والمشاركة الفاعلة في المحافل الدولية.
وتأتي استضافة المملكة لمقر الهيئة في مدينة جدة، تجسيداً عملياً للدعم الكبير الذي توليه المملكة -قيادةً وحكومةً- لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي ومؤسساتها، وحرصها على تعزيز قيم الكرامة الإنسانية والعدالة وحقوق الإنسان في العالم الإسلامي.
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, received at the headquarters of the General Secretariat the newly appointed Executive Director of the Permanent Independent Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General extended his congratulations to the new Executive Director, expressing his wishes for his success and support for the role and efforts of the Commission.
Dr. Al-Yami is considered one of the prominent competencies in the field of human rights and legislative and legal work, possessing extensive experience in legislative and human rights positions, during which he held multiple leadership roles, including: a member of the Shura Council for two consecutive terms (the seventh and eighth), where he made significant contributions to legislative and social committees, a member of the Human Rights Commission for two terms, the first and second, where he worked on developing protection programs and enhancing human rights awareness, and the Chairman of the Arab Human Rights Committee at the Arab League for four years, during which he led efforts to develop the Arab mechanism concerned with monitoring and reporting. He also heads the Board of Directors of the "Ihsan" Association for Legal Services, which focuses on enabling deserving groups to access justice.
Dr. Al-Yami holds a PhD in law and is a professor of international human rights law at several Saudi universities, with extensive international and regional participation. He has contributed to the development of national policies and legislation in the fields of governance, rights, and the environment, in addition to his experience in human rights diplomacy at the Arab level.
For his part, the Executive Director expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General for his continued support for the Permanent Independent Human Rights Commission, affirming his readiness to continue cooperation with the General Secretariat in light of the integrated work of the organization's institutions.
On this occasion, Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for this precious trust, affirming that this assignment is a significant national and international responsibility. He said: "I am honored to extend my highest expressions of thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for this generous trust."
The Permanent Independent Human Rights Commission holds strategic importance as it is the first specialized human rights body within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It undertakes multiple tasks, including promoting the principles of human rights and fundamental freedoms in member states, monitoring human rights commitments, documenting violations faced by Muslim peoples, as well as preparing studies and actively participating in international forums.
The hosting of the Commission's headquarters in Jeddah by the Kingdom is a practical embodiment of the significant support that the Kingdom - leadership and government - provides to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its institutions, and its commitment to promoting the values of human dignity, justice, and human rights in the Islamic world.
