أطلقت أمانة المنطقة الشرقية مشروعاً لتوثيق ورقمنة الأشجار في مدينة الخبر؛ لتحويلها لتكون أول مدينة خضراء ذكية، وذلك بتوثيق ورقمنة أكثر من 100 ألف شجرة في المرحلة الأولى.
وأوضحت الأمانة أن المشروع يعزز مكانة الخبر ضمن قائمة المدن الذكية عالمياً، حيث تحتل المركز الـ61 عالمياً ضمن مؤشر المدن الذكية لعام 2025، مؤكدة التزام مدينة الخبر بالاستدامة البيئية، مبينة أن رقمنة الأشجار توفر فرصاً اقتصادية من خلال تحفيز الشركات المساهمة في حملات التشجير، وتعزز الاستثمارات في المدن الذكية والبنية المستدامة ثقافياً، إلى جانب نشر الوعي البيئي وتعزيز المسؤولية الاجتماعية، ما يدعم التنمية الشاملة، ويجعل الخبر نموذجاً عالمياً في الابتكار البيئي.
وبينت أن المشروع يشمل تثبيت بطاقات ترقيم إلكترونية على جذوع الأشجار تحمل معلومات تفصيلية عن الشجرة وموقعها وأهميتها وإمكانية العناية بها، وذلك باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، إضافة إلى ربطها جغرافياً بمناطق تواجد الأشجار وتوزيعها الطبيعي؛ لتكون هناك قاعدة بيانات لكافة الأشجار في الخبر.
وأشارت إلى أنه تم الانتهاء فعلياً من ترقيم أكثر من 10 آلاف شجرة حتى الآن في كل من الكورنيش الجنوبي والواجهة البحرية والكورنيش الشمالي والطرق الرئيسية؛ لتستمر المبادرة وتشمل جميع الأشجار المزروعة في أنحاء الخبر كافة.
The Eastern Province Municipality has launched a project to document and digitize trees in the city of Khobar, aiming to transform it into the first smart green city by documenting and digitizing more than 100,000 trees in the first phase.
The municipality clarified that the project enhances Khobar's position on the global list of smart cities, as it ranks 61st worldwide in the Smart Cities Index for 2025. It affirmed Khobar's commitment to environmental sustainability, indicating that the digitization of trees provides economic opportunities by stimulating companies involved in afforestation campaigns and enhances investments in smart cities and culturally sustainable infrastructure, in addition to raising environmental awareness and promoting social responsibility, which supports comprehensive development and makes Khobar a global model for environmental innovation.
It was noted that the project includes the installation of electronic numbering cards on the trunks of trees that carry detailed information about the tree, its location, significance, and care possibilities, in both Arabic and English. Additionally, it connects them geographically to the areas where the trees are located and their natural distribution, creating a database for all trees in Khobar.
It was mentioned that more than 10,000 trees have already been numbered in the southern corniche, the waterfront, the northern corniche, and the main roads; the initiative will continue to include all planted trees throughout Khobar.
