أحرزت المملكة تقدماً متميزاً في قطاع الطرق، التي تعد الأولى على مستوى العالم في ترابطها، والرابعة بين دول مجموعة العشرين في جودة الطرق، والأولى عربياً في تنفيذ تقنية الاهتزازات التحذيرية إلى جانب أن 80% من طرقها تتوافق مع أعلى معايير السلامة الدولية وفق مؤشرات IRAP.
وأكد مدير سلامة الطرق بوزارة النقل المهندس محمد آل عبود لـ «عكاظ» أن جميع الطرق في المملكة تخضع لمراجعة وتقييم دوريين لتحديد الطرق التي تحتاج إلى معالجة أو صيانة لضمان مطابقتها للمواصفات ومعايير الجودة المعتمدة. وقال: إن السعودية شهدت تقدماً كبيراً على صعيد السلامة المرورية نتيجة تبني العديد من التقنيات المتقدمة وتنفيذ العديد من المشاريع الكبرى، إضافةً للشراكة الفاعلة مع أعضاء اللجنة الوزارية للسلامة المرورية.
ولفت إلى أن هيئة الطرق تملك أضخم أسطول معدات في العالم، يضم 18 معدة حديثة تعتمد على الذكاء الاصطناعي، أسهمت في رفع مستوى السلامة والحفاظ على البيئة، وعززت تجربة مستخدمي الطرق، مؤكداً استمرار الجهود لتحقيق مستهدفات استراتيجية قطاع الطرق، التي تعد السلامة أحد أهم مرتكزاتها، إذ تستهدف الاستراتيجية خفض الوفيات لأقل من 5 حالات لكل 100 ألف نسمة بحلول 2030.
وأضاف أن جهود المملكة في قطاع الطرق تشهد تحسناً ملحوظاً في سلامة وجودة شبكة الطرق، إذ أثمرت الجهود عن ارتفاع مؤشر جودة البنية التحتية للطرق في المملكة إلى 5.7 وفقاً للتقرير الصادر عن المنتدى الاقتصادي العالمي.
وأوضح آل عبود أن المؤشر الإيجابي وضع السعودية في المركز الرابع بين دول مجموعة العشرين في جودة الطرق، إذ يعد من أهم المؤشرات العالمية التي تقيس مستوى جودة الطرق بناءً على مجموعة من العوامل، مثل تصاميم الطرق، ومستوى سطحها، وخلوها من العيوب والتشققات والحفر، بجانب الصيانة الدورية للطرق، وحجم الكثافة المرورية، مما ساهم في خفض نسبة وفيات حوادث الطرق بنسبة 57%، وفقاً للتقرير السنوي للسلامة المرورية 2024 وبالشراكة مع أعضاء اللجنة كافة.
وبين مدير سلامة الطرق أنه تم العمل على تعزيز السلامة المرورية في مشاريع سلامة الطرق من خلال وضع الحواجز الخرسانية بطول 154.7 كم، والحواجز المعدنية بطول 120.7 كم، والدهانات الأرضية بطول يزيد على 4 آلاف كم، وتركيب عيون القطط ما يقارب 600 ألف وحدة.
وأشار المهندس آل عبود إلى أن جهود الهيئة في رفع مستوى السلامة أهلتها لنيل جائزة «النجم الساطع» ضمن برنامج جائزة جاري ليدن التذكارية الدولية لعام 2024، خلال المؤتمر الوزاري العالمي الرابع للسلامة على الطرق، تقديراً لتبنيها أحدث التقنيات ومعالجتها للطرق عالية الخطورة، مما ساهم في تقليل الوفيات وحماية مستخدمي الطرق.
--- تقرير يكشف أسباب الحوادث كشف التقرير الخاص باللجنة الوزارية للسلامة المرورية أن أبرز أسباب الحوادث المرورية في 2024 شملت عدم ترك مسافة آمنة بنسبة 29.2%، والانحراف المفاجئ بـ27.2%، ومخالفة أحقية المرور بـ10.4%، والانشغال عن القيادة بـ6.2%، وعكس اتجاه السير بـ0.7%، إضافة إلى أسباب أخرى بنسبة 26.3%. كما أظهر أن نسبة الوفيات كانت 87.2% للذكور و12.8% للإناث.
وأكد التقرير أن 95 % من التحويلات تتوافق مع معايير السلامة المرورية، بجانب إطلاق كود الطرق السعودي الذي يعد أهم المشاريع الوطنية التي تسهم في توحيد كافة المعايير والسياسات لكافة الجهات المنفذة لشبكة الطرق، إذ يهدف الكود لوضع مرجع فني موحد لكافة الجهات المنفذة، بما يضمن رفع مستوى السلامة على شبكة الطرق كافة.
The Kingdom has made remarkable progress in the road sector, which ranks first in the world for connectivity, fourth among the G20 countries in road quality, and first in the Arab world in implementing warning vibration technology, in addition to 80% of its roads meeting the highest international safety standards according to IRAP indicators.
The Director of Road Safety at the Ministry of Transport, Engineer Mohammed Al-Aboud, confirmed to "Okaz" that all roads in the Kingdom are subject to periodic review and evaluation to identify roads that need treatment or maintenance to ensure compliance with approved specifications and quality standards. He stated that Saudi Arabia has witnessed significant progress in traffic safety due to the adoption of many advanced technologies and the implementation of several major projects, in addition to effective partnerships with members of the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety.
He pointed out that the Roads Authority possesses the largest fleet of equipment in the world, including 18 modern machines that rely on artificial intelligence, which have contributed to enhancing safety and protecting the environment, as well as improving the experience of road users. He emphasized the continued efforts to achieve the targets of the road sector strategy, where safety is one of its most important pillars, aiming to reduce fatalities to less than 5 cases per 100,000 people by 2030.
He added that the Kingdom's efforts in the road sector are witnessing a noticeable improvement in the safety and quality of the road network, as these efforts have resulted in an increase in the infrastructure quality index for roads in the Kingdom to 5.7 according to the report issued by the World Economic Forum.
Al-Aboud explained that this positive index placed Saudi Arabia in fourth place among the G20 countries in road quality, as it is one of the most important global indicators that measure road quality based on a set of factors, such as road designs, surface conditions, absence of defects, cracks, and potholes, in addition to regular road maintenance and traffic density, which contributed to reducing the percentage of road traffic fatalities by 57%, according to the 2024 annual traffic safety report in partnership with all committee members.
The Director of Road Safety indicated that efforts have been made to enhance traffic safety in road safety projects by installing concrete barriers over a length of 154.7 km, metal barriers over a length of 120.7 km, ground markings over more than 4,000 km, and installing approximately 600,000 cat's eyes.
Engineer Al-Aboud noted that the Authority's efforts to enhance safety have qualified it to receive the "Shining Star" award as part of the 2024 International Jerry Leeden Memorial Award program during the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, in recognition of its adoption of the latest technologies and its treatment of high-risk roads, which contributed to reducing fatalities and protecting road users.
--- Report Reveals Causes of Accidents The report from the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety revealed that the main causes of traffic accidents in 2024 included not maintaining a safe distance at 29.2%, sudden lane changes at 27.2%, violating right-of-way at 10.4%, distractions while driving at 6.2%, and driving against traffic at 0.7%, along with other causes accounting for 26.3%. It also showed that the fatality rate was 87.2% for males and 12.8% for females.
The report confirmed that 95% of diversions comply with traffic safety standards, alongside the launch of the Saudi Road Code, which is one of the most important national projects that contribute to unifying all standards and policies for all entities implementing the road network. The code aims to establish a unified technical reference for all implementing entities, ensuring the enhancement of safety across the entire road network.
