كشف التقرير الطبي الرسمي الصادر عن السلطات البريطانية أن وفاة الطالب السعودي محمد القاسم جاءت نتيجة طعنة واحدة مباشرة في الرقبة بعمق 11.5 سنتيمتر، باستخدام أداة حادة تُستخدم عادة في جرائم القتل. وبيّن التقرير أن الطعنة استهدفت منطقة قاتلة في الجسد، ما أدى إلى الوفاة فوراً، مؤكداً أن الجاني كان في كامل وعيه أثناء تنفيذ الجريمة، وأقدم على الفعل بقصد القتل العمد.
وتزامناً مع صدور التقرير، بدأت محكمة «كامبريدج كراون» أولى جلساتها في القضية التي هزّت الأوساط السعودية، ووجّهت النيابة العامة البريطانية تهمتَي القتل وحيازة سلاح أبيض في مكان عام للمتهم الرئيسي تشاز كوريغان. وخلال الجلسة، أنكر المتهم ما نُسب إليه، مدعياً أنه كان في حالة دفاع عن النفس. وحددت المحكمة جلسة جديدة للنظر في القضية يوم 8 سبتمبر القادم.
في غضون ذلك، تسلمت أسرة الفقيد محمد القاسم جثمانه، تمهيداً لنقله إلى المملكة غداً، وسيُصلّى عليه بعد صلاة الجمعة في المسجد الحرام بمكة المكرمة، ويُوارى جثمانه الثرى في مقبرة الشهداء.
وأكدت أسرة القاسم أن السفارة السعودية في لندن تتابع مجريات القضية عن كثب، وأن الإجراءات القانونية تسير بالتنسيق الكامل مع الجهات الرسمية، لضمان محاسبة الجاني وتحقيق العدالة.
من جهته، نعى وزير الحج والعمرة الدكتور توفيق الربيعة الطالب الراحل في تغريدة مؤثرة قال فيها: «رحل محمد القاسم، وبقيت سيرته العطرة. شابٌ سعودي شهم، كريم الخلق، مشهود له ببرّ والديه، وتطوعه في خدمة ضيوف الرحمن في الحرم المكي الشريف»، مقدماً تعازيه الحارة لأسرته، وداعياً له بالرحمة والمغفرة.
ورغم ألم الفقد، أكدت الأسرة ثقتها في مسار العدالة، مشيرة إلى أن ابنها كان مثالاً للخلق والانضباط، وأنها لن تتنازل عن حقه حتى يُدان المتورط أمام القضاء.

The report indicated that the stab targeted a lethal area of the body, leading to immediate death, confirming that the perpetrator was fully aware during the commission of the crime and acted with intent to kill.
Coinciding with the release of the report, the "Cambridge Crown" court began its first session in the case that has shaken Saudi circles, with the British public prosecutor charging the main suspect, Chaz Corrigan, with two counts: murder and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place. During the session, the accused denied the charges against him, claiming he was acting in self-defense. The court set a new session to review the case on September 8.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased Mohammed Al-Qassim received his body in preparation for its transfer to the Kingdom tomorrow, where prayers will be held for him after Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, and his body will be laid to rest in the Martyrs' Cemetery.
The Al-Qassim family confirmed that the Saudi embassy in London is closely monitoring the developments of the case and that legal procedures are proceeding in full coordination with the official authorities to ensure the perpetrator is held accountable and justice is served.
For his part, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, mourned the late student in an emotional tweet, stating: "Mohammed Al-Qassim has departed, but his fragrant memory remains. A noble Saudi young man, of good character, known for his kindness to his parents and his volunteering in serving the guests of Allah at the Holy Mosque in Mecca," extending his heartfelt condolences to his family and praying for mercy and forgiveness for him.
Despite the pain of loss, the family affirmed their confidence in the course of justice, indicating that their son was an example of good character and discipline, and that they would not relinquish his rights until those involved are convicted in court.
