The Cabinet approved the amendment of its previous decision issued in January 2024, regarding the determination of official holiday days for both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, to be a minimum of 4 working days and a maximum of 5 working days for employees of government entities that apply the labor system.
The new Cabinet decision stipulated that this determination does not apply to those subject to the labor system in government entities that apply the civil service system, except for those contracted according to the rules governing the functions of deputy ministers and assistant deputies, and those contracted according to the regulations governing the competencies program and contractors.
The decision clarified that these exceptions are subject to the limits of the holiday days for the aforementioned Eids, and the head of the entity has the right to convert them to remote work during the period exceeding 5 working days during which civil service employees enjoy the holiday leave.
The Council's decision, published in Umm al-Qura newspaper yesterday (Friday), added a clause to the previous decision, authorizing the Ministers of Finance and Human Resources and Social Development to determine other categories of contractors subject to the labor system in government entities that apply the civil service system, to which the limits of the holiday days for the Eids (minimum 4 working days and maximum 5 working days) will apply, as well as the authority of the head of the government entity to convert them to remote work during the period exceeding 5 working days.
