The General Directorate of Border Guard thwarted attempts to smuggle 2,756,806 pills of the narcotic substance amphetamine, 1,944,230 pills subject to medical trading regulations, four tons of hashish, and 180 tons of khat. They arrested the smugglers in the regions of Tabuk, Jazan, Asir, Najran, Mecca, Medina, and the Eastern Province. Among those arrested were 1,518 violators of border security regulations of Ethiopian nationality, 842 violators of border security regulations of Yemeni nationality, seven violators of border security regulations of Sudanese nationality, six violators of border security regulations of Eritrean nationality, three violators of border security regulations of Somali nationality, two violators of border security regulations of Pakistani nationality, and 33 citizens.

The Ministry of Interior urged citizens and residents to promptly report any information they have regarding activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking.
