Our Arab region has been experiencing fragmentation, disintegration, and civil wars in important Arab countries since 2011, as we have witnessed in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Libya. The militias, which present themselves as guardians of religion and sects, have unfortunately found support and allegiance from the peoples of these countries. The result is catastrophic in most cases. These militias, which have usurped the call and occupied its position, have not been able to act and operate in all aspects as a modern civil state should, one that serves its people with genuine developmental programs and true citizenship, away from religious, sectarian, and regional considerations, for example. One state, before what is called the Arab Spring, was safe and stable despite its totalitarian nature, but at least it was considered a responsible state for its actions before the international community. Now, it has two governments, and its land is open to armed militias and the interests of major powers. Meanwhile, the people of that state are paying the price for the control of religious militias that fight among themselves for positions and money, and the political slogans they raised, wrapped in religious emotions in the past, have faded away. It is strange to find someone defending these miserable political experiences. In Yemen, which experienced a wave of mass protests during the Arab Spring, the youth played a role in political, economic, and social demands under a strong national government that maintained stability for decades. Then came these political currents, the most dangerous of which was the Houthi movement, which raised slogans of victimhood that the youth there believed in. The result was the descent from the caves of Saada and the seizure of the national state, monopolizing power despite agreeing to national and Gulf initiatives to pull Yemen out of the shadow of civil war. The promises of the Houthi movement were a form of political dissimulation wrapped in a retrograde religious ideology, for a religious sectarian group, while we are in the twenty-first century. We witness the behavior of this group today after it exploited the truces and the attempts of neighboring countries to reach solutions to strengthen its military arsenal. The missile attacks on civilian interests in the Kingdom are evidence of this movement's bankruptcy in political thought that drives states, not militia groups that resemble the behavior of criminal mafia movements, showing no concern for killing and injuring civilians in their criminal acts. I expect that this Houthi recklessness and chaos have numerous implications that may be contrary to what they claim as real strength. The problem here is that these groups brainwash their followers, while in reality, they do not care about their fate on the battlefields. A quick look at the captives from this group's supporters, the majority of whom are children, reveals how their leadership thinks and what human life means to them; everyone is a sacrifice for the master hiding in the caves of Saada. Uncovering and dismantling this dark ideology wrapped in religious discourse is very important, especially in media programs and social media in an accurate and objective manner. A person anywhere wants education, health services, and a civil state that upholds their rights away from any religious, political, or cultural considerations, which is far from reality in areas controlled by militias.
