اتخذ المجلس التنفيذي للمنظمة العربية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم (الألكسو) برئاسة السعودية، في اجتماع دورته الـ123، في مقر المنظمة في تونس، عددًا من القرارات، في مقدمتها الموافقة على مقترح المملكة بعقد دورة غير عادية للمؤتمر العام لتعيين مدير عام مساعد للمنظمة في منتصف سبتمبر القادم.
وقال رئيس المجلس التنفيذي لمنظمة «الألكسو» هاني المقبل، إن انعقاد اجتماع المجلس يأتي في ظروف استثنائية ومؤلمة، يعيشها الأشقاء في فلسطين، مؤكدًا دعم المجلس التنفيذي الكامل والثابت للموقف الإنساني والأخوي لدعم قطاع غزة في فلسطين المتضررة، وذلك ضمن إطار التعاون والتضامن العربي.
وأشار إلى دعم ترشيح الدكتور خالد عنان، مرشح جمهورية مصر العربية، لمنصب مدير عام منظمة اليونسكو، المرشح العربي الوحيد لهذا المنصب المهم، وأضاف، أن المجلس اطّلع على تقرير حول أداء عمل لجنة تطوير آلية عمل المؤتمر العام للألكسو، التي تعد مبادرة من المملكة. ووافق المجلس على المقترح السعودي بتشكيل لجنة متابعة الأوضاع التربوية والثقافية والعلمية للدول في حالة النزاعات والأزمات والكوارث والطوارئ، برئاسة الجمهورية اللبنانية وعضوية 10 دول، كما أقر المقترح السعودي بعقد ملتقى إعلامي لرصد الاحتياجات والأضرار اللاحقة بالأوضاع التربوية والثقافية والعلمية في الدول العربية التي تعاني النزاعات والأزمات والكوارث والطوارئ، في منتصف سبتمبر في مقر المنظمة؛ بهدف تعزيز العمل على التواصل والتنسيق مع الدول المعنية، وتحديد احتياجاتها الفنية والمالية، ووضع خطة للاستجابة لذلك. ودعا المجلس التنفيذي لـ«الألكسو» الإدارة العامة للمنظمة إلى تقديم المحاور الكبرى لمشروع رؤية مستقبلية لخطة عمل المنظمة لما بعد 2028م، وذلك خلال انعقاد الدورة العادية القادمة الـ 124 للمجلس التنفيذي.

The Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO), chaired by Saudi Arabia, made several decisions during its 123rd session held at the organization's headquarters in Tunisia, the most significant of which was the approval of the Kingdom's proposal to hold an extraordinary session of the General Conference to appoint an Assistant Director-General for the organization in mid-September.
Hani Al-Muqbil, the Chairman of the Executive Council of ALECSO, stated that the council's meeting comes at an exceptional and painful time experienced by our brothers in Palestine, affirming the council's full and steadfast support for the humanitarian and fraternal stance to support the Gaza Strip in the affected Palestine, as part of the framework of Arab cooperation and solidarity.
He pointed out the support for the nomination of Dr. Khaled Anan, the candidate from the Arab Republic of Egypt, for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, the only Arab candidate for this important position. He added that the council reviewed a report on the performance of the committee to develop the mechanism of work for the ALECSO General Conference, which is an initiative from the Kingdom. The council approved the Saudi proposal to form a committee to monitor the educational, cultural, and scientific conditions of countries in situations of conflicts, crises, disasters, and emergencies, chaired by the Lebanese Republic and including 10 member states. The Saudi proposal to hold a media forum to assess the needs and damages affecting the educational, cultural, and scientific conditions in Arab countries suffering from conflicts, crises, disasters, and emergencies was also approved, to be held in mid-September at the organization's headquarters; this aims to enhance communication and coordination with the concerned countries, identify their technical and financial needs, and develop a response plan accordingly. The Executive Council of ALECSO called on the General Administration of the organization to present the main axes of a future vision for the organization's action plan beyond 2028 during the upcoming 124th regular session of the Executive Council.
