The Imams of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque focused, in their Friday sermons, on a number of faith-based and national values; most notably high aspirations, the awareness of divine wisdom in matters of destiny, and the sanctity of Mecca and Medina. They emphasized that the righteousness of individuals and society is linked to the strength of faith, good deeds, and the acceptance of responsibility.
The messages of the two sermons intersected in affirming a system of values, foremost among them the fear of God, high aspirations, patience and gratitude, awareness of responsibility, and the sanctity of the two holy mosques, which enhances the development of individuals and society and preserves the security of the homeland and its sacred sites.
In the Grand Mosque, the Imam and preacher Sheikh Dr. Yasser bin Rashid Al-Dosari called for the fear of God, emphasizing that high aspirations are among the most noble traits that elevate a person, push them to overcome weakness and laziness, and help them achieve success and prosperity in both religious and worldly matters.
He pointed out that the religious texts are full of encouragement to initiate good deeds and elevate aspirations, citing the Almighty's words: "So race to good deeds," and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying: "When you ask Allah, ask Him for Paradise."
He stressed the importance of seizing life and blessings before they fade away, and being wary of laziness and procrastination, explaining that the advancement and prosperity of nations can only be achieved through diligence, effort, and perseverance.
He also addressed the renaissance and prosperity witnessed by the Kingdom, affirming that loyalty to the homeland is manifested in the perfection of work, preserving its resources, rejecting extremism and radicalism, and warning against rumors and attacks that target the security of the two holy countries. He affirmed that defending the homeland and its sanctities is a responsibility and a trust that requires unity and solidarity.
In the Prophet's Mosque, Imam and preacher Sheikh Dr. Abdul Mohsen Al-Qasim discussed God's wisdom in the variation of sustenance and circumstances, clarifying that the blessings and trials that befall people occur according to God's decree and wisdom, and that the differences among people in sustenance and livelihoods are among the laws of life that diversify the interests of people and stabilize their affairs.
He indicated that both wealth and poverty are tests, and that the true measure of superiority among people is piety and good deeds, not the abundance of wealth, citing the Almighty's words: "Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you."
He explained that a believer fluctuates between patience in times of trial and gratitude in times of blessings, citing the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who embodied the perfection of both patience and gratitude.
At the end of his sermon, he emphasized the sanctity of Mecca and Medina, warning against any aggression towards them or terrorizing the safe, and addressing the aggressive acts committed by the terrorist Houthi militia, affirming that honoring the two holy cities and safeguarding their security is a great religious duty.
