The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist Houthi militia's launch of an enemy drone towards the holy city of Mecca on Tuesday, 4 Rabee' al-Thani 1448, corresponding to September 15, 2026.
The Kingdom affirmed that this cowardly terrorist attack towards the sacred land, the land of the message, the descent of revelation, and the qibla of Muslims, is a repetition of the Houthi militia's practices in targeting and violating sacred feelings, and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world, especially since this attempt marks the second attempt to target Mecca after their first attempt on 27/7/2017.
The Kingdom praised the vigilance of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces, which confronted this attack and managed to intercept and destroy it before it entered the restricted airspace of the holy capital, Mecca.
The Kingdom renewed its call to the international community to condemn these grave attacks and to take a firm stance regarding the Houthi militia's assaults on sacred sites and civilian and economic entities in the Kingdom, as well as the threats posed by the Houthi militias to the freedom of maritime navigation for commercial ships and international trade.
It also reiterated its legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend the security of the Two Holy Mosques and the guests of Allah, as well as all the territories of the Kingdom and its citizens and residents.
