يُعدُّ مسجد الدرع أحد المساجد التاريخية في المدينة المنورة، إذ يرتبط بمراحل مهمة من السيرة النبوية، ويجسّد عمق المكانة الدينية والتاريخية التي تحتضنها طيبة الطيبة، مدينة رسول الله ﷺ.
ويقع المسجد شمالي المدينة المنورة، بالقرب من موقعة غزوة أحد، ويبعد عن جبل الرماة أقل من (٢) كيلو متر جنوباً، وجاءت تسميته بـ«مسجد الدرع»؛ لأن رسول الله ﷺ خلع فيه درعه بعد أن توقف فيه، أثناء خروجه لغزوة أحد، وكان فيه معسكره ليلة خرج للقتال، وصلى فيه العصر والمغرب والعشاء، كما يُسمى كذلك بمسجد الشيخين، والبدائع، والعدوة.
ويحظى مسجد الدرع بعناية واهتمام من الجهات المختصة، ضمن جهود الحفاظ على المساجد التاريخية في المدينة المنورة، لما تمثّله من إرث حضاري وإسلامي يعكس سيرة النبي ﷺ وأصحابه رضي الله عنهم، ويُسهم في تعزيز الوعي بتاريخ المدينة لدى الزوار والمعتمرين.
ولا يزال المسجد مقصداً لعدد من المصلين والزائرين، الذين يحرصون على الصلاة فيه والتعرّف على معالمه، في أجواء روحانية تستحضر عبق التاريخ، وتربط الحاضر بماض إسلامي مشرق.
The Al-Dhir Mosque is one of the historical mosques in Medina, as it is associated with important stages of the Prophet's biography, embodying the deep religious and historical significance that Al-Tayyiba, the city of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, holds.
The mosque is located north of Medina, near the site of the Battle of Uhud, and is less than (2) kilometers south of the Mount of Archers. It is named "Al-Dhir Mosque" because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ removed his armor there after stopping during his departure for the Battle of Uhud, and it served as his camp the night he went out to fight. He prayed the afternoon, sunset, and night prayers there. It is also known as the Mosque of the Two Sheikhs, Al-Bada'i, and Al-Adwa.
The Al-Dhir Mosque receives care and attention from the relevant authorities as part of efforts to preserve the historical mosques in Medina, due to their representation of a cultural and Islamic heritage that reflects the life of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and contributes to enhancing awareness of the city's history among visitors and pilgrims.
The mosque remains a destination for many worshippers and visitors who are keen to pray there and learn about its landmarks, in a spiritual atmosphere that evokes the fragrance of history and connects the present with a bright Islamic past.
