تستضيف العاصمة الرياض النسخة الثانية من المؤتمر الدولي للعواصف الغبارية والرملية، المقرر عقده نهاية العام 2026، بمشاركة رفيعة المستوى من قيادات وممثلي المنظمات الدولية، إضافة إلى نخبة من الباحثين والمتخصصين من الجهات ذات العلاقة.

وأوضح المدير التنفيذي للمركز الإقليمي للعواصف الغبارية والرملية جمعان القحطاني، أن تنظيم النسخة الثانية للمؤتمر يأتي استكمالًا لما حققته النسخة الأولى من نجاحات مهمة، والتي اختُتمت بإصدار إعلان الرياض الذي يعد خارطة عمل للملفات المعنية بالعواصف الغبارية والرملية على كافة المستويات الدولية، ويعزز الإطار التنسيقي بين دول الإقليم للتعامل مع العواصف الغبارية العابرة للحدود، ودعم جهود دول المصدر للحد من آثارها، وإجراء الدراسات العلمية المعمقة لمعرفة مسبباتها وتسريع الحلول الإقليمية المشتركة.
وتأتي الاستضافة في سياق النجاحات التي حققتها المملكة في الدورة السادسة عشرة لمؤتمر الأطراف لمكافحة التصحر والجفاف، التي مثّلت منصة لإطلاق شراكات دولية وبرامج نوعية تستهدف مواجهة تحديات التصحر والجفاف، ودعم الجهود العالمية لمعالجة آثار التغير المناخي.
The capital city of Riyadh is hosting the second edition of the International Conference on Dust and Sandstorms, scheduled to take place at the end of 2026, with high-level participation from leaders and representatives of international organizations, in addition to a select group of researchers and specialists from relevant entities.
Action Plan
The Executive Director of the Regional Center for Dust and Sandstorms, Jumaan Al-Qahtani, explained that organizing the second edition of the conference comes as a continuation of the significant successes achieved by the first edition, which concluded with the issuance of the Riyadh Declaration, considered an action plan for issues related to dust and sandstorms at all international levels. It enhances the coordinating framework among countries in the region to address cross-border dust storms, supports the efforts of source countries to mitigate their impacts, and conducts in-depth scientific studies to understand their causes and expedite common regional solutions.
The hosting comes in the context of the successes achieved by the Kingdom during the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to Combat Desertification and Drought, which served as a platform for launching international partnerships and quality programs aimed at addressing the challenges of desertification and drought, and supporting global efforts to tackle the impacts of climate change.
