رغم تعاقب 4 رؤساء على جامعة أم القرى ومضي 15 عاما، وفي كل عام تبرز وعود وتوقعات بالانتهاء من المشاريع المتعثرة والتعجيل بتنفيذها، لكن المشهد كما هو الحال.
فالمباني الجامعية في العابدية متوقفة دون أن يتم التسريع في تنفيذها وتقدم خدماتها لطالبات منطقة مكة المكرمة، ولم يتغير المحيط الجامعي، وسط تساؤلات أين ذهبت وعود تلك السنوات.

وأبدى كثير من أولياء أمور طالبات جامعة أم القرى تخوفهم أن يصبح مصير المدينة الجامعية في العابدية مثل مصير مركز الأبحاث الذي توقف تنفيذه منذ ١٥عاماً ليصبح عديم الفائدة رغم الملايين التي صرفت، فأصبح مكباً للمخلفات ومعلماً لسالكي طريق الطائف مكة المكرمة. «عكاظ» وقفت على الموقع حيث اتضح تعديل التاريخ في لوحة المشروع وحفريات خارج المباني السابقة.
واعتبر سعد العتيبي التأخير غير مبرر له حيث مضت السنوات الماضية والوعود كما هي دون تنفيذ وتدخل من جهات الاختصاص، مطالباً بالتحقيق في الأسباب التي أخرت تنفيذ هذا الصرح التعليمي والاستفادة منه للطالبات بدلاً من المباني القديمة في وسط مكة.
تأخير في التنفيذ
طالب العديد من أولياء الأمور الجهات ذات العلاقة بسرعة الانتهاء من المشروع ليخدم الطالبات.
واستغرب سلطان الحارثي التأخير في التنفيذ حيث مضى على البناء سنوات وأصبح في حاجة إلى صيانة قبل أن يكتمل.
وطالب العديد من أولياء الأمور منهم محمد فلاتة وحسن مقري وعبدالله ناصر الجهات ذات العلاقة بسرعة الانتهاء من المشروع ليخدم الطالبات، ويستفاد من الموقع الذي خصصت له الملايين، وفي نفس الوقت خصص لإنهاء معانات طالبات مكة المكرمة.
Despite the succession of 4 presidents at Umm Al-Qura University and the passage of 15 years, every year brings promises and expectations to complete stalled projects and expedite their implementation, yet the scene remains unchanged.
The university buildings in Al-Abidiyah are halted without any acceleration in their execution to provide services to female students in the Makkah region, and the university environment has not changed, amidst questions about where the promises of those years have gone.

Many parents of female students at Umm Al-Qura University expressed their concern that the fate of the university city in Al-Abidiyah might end up like that of the research center, which has been stalled for 15 years, rendering it useless despite the millions spent, turning it into a waste dump and a landmark for travelers on the Taif-Makkah road. "Okaz" visited the site where it became clear that the date on the project sign had been altered and excavations were outside the previous buildings.
Saeed Al-Otaibi considered the delay unjustified, as the past years have passed with promises remaining unfulfilled and without intervention from the relevant authorities, calling for an investigation into the reasons that delayed the implementation of this educational edifice and its benefit for female students instead of the old buildings in the center of Makkah.

Sultan Al-Harithi expressed surprise at the delay in implementation, as the construction has been ongoing for years and is in need of maintenance before it is completed.
Many parents, including Mohammed Falatah, Hassan Maqri, and Abdullah Nasser, urged the relevant authorities to expedite the completion of the project to serve the female students and make use of the site for which millions were allocated, while at the same time aiming to alleviate the suffering of female students in Makkah.
