أعلنت اللاعبة المخضرمة Diana ‘sonder’ Zhang في سلسلة Game Changers، رسميًا اعتزالها من منافسات VALORANT، إذ سيكون Red Bull Instalock 2025 آخر ظهور لها على المسرح.
اللاعبة الصينية الأمريكية، التي تمثل حاليًا فريق FlyQuest RED، شاركت الخبر على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، مشيرة إلى أنها ستبتعد عن الرياضات الإلكترونية الاحترافية لتسعى وراء أهداف جديدة في حياتها.
وكتبت sonder:
«أنا ممتنة لكل الأشخاص الرائعين الذين قابلتهم طوال مسيرتي. شكرًا لكم جميعًا على الدعم، والمحبّة، والتشجيع في كل لحظة، سواء كانت صعودًا أو هبوطًا. آمل أنني أوضحت أنه مهما كان الأمر، استمتعوا دائمًا».
«لست حزينة لأن الأمر ينتهي، بل سعيدة لأنه حدث، أحبكم جميعًا».
وعلى الرغم من خروجها من الساحة التنافسية، أكدت sonder أنها ستستمر في البث المباشر بانتظام على قناتها فيTwitch، محافظة على تواجدها داخل المجتمع الذي دعمها طوال مسيرتها.
بدأت رحلة sonder في VALORANT عام 2021 مع فريق Moon Raccoons Black، وسرعان ما صعدت إلى القمة، وانضمت إلى Shopify Rebellion GC إذ أمضت أكثر من عامين. تميزت بفترة ناجحة مع الفريق، وصلت خلالها إلى نهائي بطولة Game Changers Championship 2022، مما رسّخ مكانتها واحدةً من أفضل المبارزين في الساحة.
في أوائل عام 2024، انضمت sonder إلى FlyQuest RED، وبقيت معهم لأكثر من عام قبل أن تعلن قرارها بالاعتزال وقد وجّه الفريق لها رسالة وداع مؤثرة:
«شكرًا لك sonder على وقتك معنا في RED وGame Changers لقد كان تأثيرك على الفريق وعلى المشهد ككل رائعًا، سنفتقدك كثيرًا».
كان الظهور الأخير لـ sonder يومي 2 - 3 مايو في حدث Red Bull Instalock، الذي سيُقام في Red Bull Gaming Sphere في London يمكن للجماهير متابعة الحدث مباشرة عبر قنوات Red Bull Gaming الرسمية على TwitchوYouTube.
يأتي اعتزال sonder في وقت يشهد تغيّرات كبيرة في الساحة، إذ أعلنت نجمة Game Changers الأخرى Ava «florescent» Eugene، أيضًا أخذ استراحة من المنافسات في عام 2025 بعد انتقالها إلى فريق Apeks في منطقة EMEA.
The veteran player Diana ‘sonder’ Zhang officially announced her retirement from VALORANT competition in the Game Changers series, with Red Bull Instalock 2025 being her last appearance on stage.
The Chinese-American player, who currently represents FlyQuest RED, shared the news on social media, indicating that she will step away from professional esports to pursue new goals in her life.
sonder wrote:
“I am grateful for all the amazing people I have met throughout my career. Thank you all for the support, love, and encouragement at every moment, whether it was an up or a down. I hope I’ve made it clear that no matter what, always enjoy yourselves.”
“I’m not sad that it’s ending, but happy that it happened. I love you all.”
Despite her exit from the competitive scene, sonder confirmed that she will continue to stream regularly on her Twitch channel, maintaining her presence within the community that has supported her throughout her journey.
sonder's journey in VALORANT began in 2021 with the team Moon Raccoons Black, and she quickly rose to the top, joining Shopify Rebellion GC where she spent over two years. She had a successful stint with the team, reaching the finals of the Game Changers Championship 2022, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the scene.
In early 2024, sonder joined FlyQuest RED, remaining with them for over a year before announcing her retirement decision, and the team sent her a heartfelt farewell message:
“Thank you, sonder, for your time with us at RED and Game Changers. Your impact on the team and the scene as a whole has been incredible; we will miss you dearly.”
sonder's final appearance will be on May 2-3 at the Red Bull Instalock event, which will take place at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London. Fans can watch the event live on the official Red Bull Gaming channels on Twitch and YouTube.
sonder's retirement comes at a time of significant changes in the scene, as another Game Changers star, Ava “florescent” Eugene, also announced a break from competition in 2025 after moving to the Apeks team in the EMEA region.
