ترأس وزير السياحة أحمد بن عقيل الخطيب وفد المملكة المشارك في القمة العالمية للمجلس العالمي للسفر والسياحة بنسختها الخامسة والعشرين، التي انعقدت في روما من 28 إلى 30 سبتمبر 2025م، وجمعت أبرز الخبراء وصنّاع السياسات وقادة القطاع من أكثر من (70) دولة حول العالم.
وخلال القمة، أبرزت المملكة نموذجًا عالميًا حقق نجاحات ملهمة في مجالات دعم الابتكار، وتعزيز التعاون الدولي، وإعداد الكوادر وتأهيلها في القطاع السياحي.
وشارك وزير السياحة في سلسلة من الفعاليات البارزة ضمن أعمال القمة -على مدى ثلاثة أيام-، حيث أطلق بالتعاون مع المجلس تقريرًا بعنوان «مستقبل العمل في السفر والسياحة»، وشارك في جلسة حوارية رئيسة بعنوان «الربط بين القارات: وضع سياسات سياحية تعاونية ترسم مستقبلًا أكثر ترابطًا».
وعقد الخطيب على هامش القمة، سلسلة من اللقاءات مع قادة عالميين من القطاعَين العام والخاص، منها جلسة طاولة مستديرة جمعته مع أبرز الرؤساء التنفيذيين في القطاع الخاص.
وقال وزير السياحة في تصريح: «إن التقرير الذي أطلقته المملكة بالتعاون مع المجلس، يُبرز حجم التحديات المتوقعة في قطاع السفر والسياحة العالمي، ويقترح حلولًا للتعامل معها، في وقتٍ نلمس أثر الذكاء الاصطناعي والابتكار الرقمي في إعادة هيكلة الوظائف وتعريف أدوار مهنية جديدة».
وأضاف: «تُعدّ المملكة نموذجًا عالميًا يُحتذى به، إذ نجحت في توفير مئات آلاف الفرص التدريبية، وزيادة مشاركة المرأة في القوى العاملة السياحية إلى نحو (50%)، وتزداد أهمية هذه الأرقام عند النظر إلى التوقعات المستقبلية للقطاع، حيث إن ثُلث الوظائف الجديدة عالميًا التي ستُضاف بحلول عام 2035م، ستأتي من قطاع السفر والسياحة، مما يجعله محركًا فريدًا للنمو الاقتصادي العالمي».
إلى ذلك، يتوقع تقرير «مستقبل العمل في السفر والسياحة»، الذي أعده المجلس العالمي للسفر والسياحة بالتعاون مع وزارة السياحة ومؤسسات بحثية عالمية رائدة، نقصًا كبيرًا في القوى العاملة في القطاع يتجاوز (43) مليون عامل في اقتصادات عشرين دولة كبرى بحلول عام 2035م.
ويُلقي التقرير الضوء أيضًا على الطلب المتزايد على المهارات الرقمية والذكاء الاصطناعي والاستدامة، إلى جانب الضغوط المتزايدة على وظائف الضيافة، حيث يُتوقع أن يصل نقص القوى العاملة فيها إلى (8.6) ملايين عامل (أي فجوة بنسبة 18%)، مما يؤكد ضرورة اتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة ومنسقة.
ويشير التقرير إلى أن نجاح المملكة في مجال تأهيل الكوادر الوطنية وتمكينها في القطاع السياحي، أصبح نموذجًا عالميًا يُحتذى به، فمنذ عام 2020م، وفرت المملكة أكثر من (946) ألف فرصة تدريبية في قطاع السياحة للعاملين فيه والراغبين بالانضمام إليه، كما نجحت في رفع نسبة مشاركة المرأة إلى (46%) من إجمالي القوى العاملة في القطاع السياحي السعودي، وقد تحققت هذه الإنجازات من خلال العديد من البرامج والمبادرات التي نفّذتها الوزارة، منها تطبيق المعايير الوطنية للمهارات المهنية.
وتعكس هذه الإنجازات الأهداف الطموحة التي حددتها رؤية المملكة 2030م، التي تهدف إلى تحويل المملكة إلى وجهة سياحية عالمية رائدة من خلال الاستثمار في الابتكار الرقمي، والتنمية المستدامة، وتعزيز الربط مع الوجهات السياحية، واستطاعت المملكة تسجيل نجاحات كبيرة في رحلة قطاعها السياحي، إذ تجاوزت للعام الثاني على التوالي رقم المئة مليون سائح محلي ووافد من الخارج في عام 2024م.
وخلال القمة، وجّه وزير السياحة دعوة إلى وزراء ورؤساء تنفيذيين، وشركاء في القطاع السياحي العالمي؛ لحضور الدورة السادسة والعشرين للجمعية العامة لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للسياحة، التي تستضيفها الرياض من 7 إلى 11 نوفمبر 2025م، إضافة إلى منتدى (تورايز)، الحدث السياحي الأول من نوعه عالميًا، الذي تنظّمه المملكة من 11 إلى 13 نوفمبر 2025م، وتشكل هاتان الفعاليتان منصتَين عالميتَين رائدتَين للحوار والعمل المشترك؛ بهدف تطوير الكوادر البشرية، وتحفيز الاستثمار، ودمج التقنيات الذكية في سياسات تفعيل الوجهات السياحية.
Tourism Minister Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb chaired the delegation of the Kingdom participating in the 25th edition of the World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit, which was held in Rome from September 28 to 30, 2025, gathering prominent experts, policymakers, and sector leaders from more than 70 countries around the world.
During the summit, the Kingdom showcased a global model that has achieved inspiring successes in supporting innovation, enhancing international cooperation, and preparing and qualifying human resources in the tourism sector.
The Minister of Tourism participated in a series of prominent events during the summit's three days, where he launched, in collaboration with the council, a report titled "The Future of Work in Travel and Tourism," and participated in a main panel discussion titled "Connecting Continents: Establishing Collaborative Tourism Policies for a More Connected Future."
Al-Khateeb held a series of meetings on the sidelines of the summit with global leaders from both the public and private sectors, including a roundtable session with prominent CEOs in the private sector.
The Minister of Tourism stated: "The report launched by the Kingdom in collaboration with the council highlights the scale of anticipated challenges in the global travel and tourism sector and proposes solutions to address them, at a time when we are witnessing the impact of artificial intelligence and digital innovation in restructuring jobs and defining new professional roles."
He added: "The Kingdom is a global model to be emulated, having succeeded in providing hundreds of thousands of training opportunities and increasing women's participation in the tourism workforce to nearly 50%. The significance of these figures increases when considering the future forecasts for the sector, as one-third of the new jobs globally that will be added by 2035 will come from the travel and tourism sector, making it a unique driver of global economic growth."
Additionally, the report "The Future of Work in Travel and Tourism," prepared by the World Travel and Tourism Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and leading global research institutions, predicts a significant workforce shortage in the sector exceeding 43 million workers in the economies of twenty major countries by 2035.
The report also highlights the increasing demand for digital skills, artificial intelligence, and sustainability, alongside the growing pressures on hospitality jobs, where the workforce shortage is expected to reach 8.6 million workers (an 18% gap), emphasizing the need for urgent and coordinated action.
The report indicates that the Kingdom's success in qualifying and empowering national human resources in the tourism sector has become a global model to be followed. Since 2020, the Kingdom has provided more than 946,000 training opportunities in the tourism sector for those working in it and those wishing to join, and it has succeeded in raising the percentage of women's participation to 46% of the total workforce in the Saudi tourism sector. These achievements have been realized through numerous programs and initiatives implemented by the ministry, including the application of national standards for professional skills.
These achievements reflect the ambitious goals set by Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a leading global tourism destination through investment in digital innovation, sustainable development, and enhancing connectivity with tourist destinations. The Kingdom has recorded significant successes in its tourism sector journey, surpassing the one hundred million mark for local and incoming tourists from abroad for the second consecutive year in 2024.
During the summit, the Minister of Tourism invited ministers, CEOs, and partners in the global tourism sector to attend the 26th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, which will be hosted in Riyadh from November 7 to 11, 2025, in addition to the (Tourism) Forum, the first event of its kind globally, organized by the Kingdom from November 11 to 13, 2025. These two events will serve as leading global platforms for dialogue and joint action aimed at developing human resources, stimulating investment, and integrating smart technologies into tourism destination activation policies.
