The Governor of the Bank of France, Emmanuel Moulin, warned of the possibility of the country entering a sovereign debt crisis as the presidential elections approach next year, emphasizing that relying on the European Central Bank to rescue France is "a misguided thought."
Moulin stated in a television interview that France must do everything in its power to avoid this scenario, as the yield on its 10-year bonds has risen to 4.7%, the highest level since the global financial crisis in 2008. Investors are demanding higher yields to hold French bonds amid concerns about the financial and political situation in the country.
He stressed that the current situation is not comparable to the 2008 crisis, noting that the French financial sector is robust and well-capitalized.
