Gold rose, as inflation fears eased due to signs that the United States and Iran are nearing an agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The precious metal was trading near $4,564 per ounce, after a 0.7% decline last Friday.
Gold had fallen last Friday, after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller warned that the energy shock resulting from the Iran war could fuel inflation, which bolstered bets on monetary tightening.
