The "WhatsApp" application is working on expanding the multi-account feature on iPhone devices by testing the ability to run up to three accounts within the same application, in a move that provides users who deal with more than one phone number greater flexibility, after the application previously allowed only two accounts.
According to "WABetaInfo," the feature appeared in the beta version of "WhatsApp" for iOS, which carries the number 26.37.10.15 and is available through the TestFlight platform, but it is still under development and has not yet been rolled out to users of the beta versions.
The new feature specifically targets those who use multiple numbers for personal or professional purposes, as it allows the consolidation of three accounts into one application, without the need to use an additional phone or resort to "WhatsApp Business" to operate another number.
Earlier, "WhatsApp" began providing the option to add a second account for iPhone users through the iOS 26.22.76 update, while keeping the data of each account separate from the others, including chats, notifications, settings, and backups.
With this new development, the company aims to raise the limit to three accounts while maintaining a similar management system. Each account will carry its name, profile picture, and associated phone number, while a green checkmark will appear next to the currently used account to facilitate identifying the active account.
When the feature is officially launched, users will be able to add the third account from the application settings, through the list of accounts linked to the device, or via a switch tool between them. The "Add Account" option is expected to remain available even after two accounts have already been added.
The system maintains the independence of the accounts, so each number has its own chat history, separate notifications, independent privacy settings, and backup, along with its own media files. Notifications will indicate which account received the message, helping to avoid sending a reply from the wrong number.
The feature also includes the ability to lock each account independently, allowing users to secure their accounts according to the authentication settings for each one.
"WhatsApp" has not yet specified an official date for enabling the third account for all iPhone users. However, the appearance of the feature in beta versions reflects the company's direction toward expanding the capabilities of managing multiple accounts, with the possibility of supporting a larger number of accounts in the future still on the table.
