عبر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، اليوم، عن رغبته في تعليق ضريبة البنزين الاتحادية البالغة 18 سنتاً لفترة من الزمن، لكنه استبعد أي تخفيف محتمل لتكاليف الوقود لشركات الطيران، في ظل استمرار ارتفاع أسعار البنزين في الولايات المتحدة وسط الحرب الإيرانية، وذلك بحسب ما ذكرت شبكة (سي.بي.إس نيوز).
وقال ترمب في مقابلة مع الشبكة: «سنلغي ضريبة البنزين لفترة من الزمن، وعندما تنخفض أسعاره سنعاود فرضها تدريجياً».
وأشار إلى أنه لم يجر تقديم خطة إنقاذ لشركات الطيران، لافتاً إلى أن وضعها «ليس سيئاً».
تخفيف العبء على المستهلكين
وكان وزير الطاقة كريس رايت قد أوضح أمس، لشبكة «إن.بي.سي نيوز»، أن إدارة ترمب منفتحة على تعليق ضريبة البنزين الاتحادية.
وتفرض الولايات الأمريكية أيضاً ضرائب على البنزين، لكن ولايات إنديانا وكنتاكي وجورجيا اتخذت خطوات لخفضها لتخفيف العبء عن المستهلكين عند محطات الوقود.
وارتفعت أسعار البنزين منذ بدء حرب إيران في 28 فبراير الماضي، إذ تشير بيانات جمعية السيارات الأمريكية إلى أن متوسط سعر الغالون بلغ 4.52 دولار اليوم.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed today his desire to suspend the federal gasoline tax of 18 cents for a period of time, but he ruled out any potential relief for airline fuel costs, as gasoline prices continue to rise in the United States amid the Iranian war, according to CBS News.
Trump said in an interview with the network: "We will eliminate the gasoline tax for a period of time, and when prices drop, we will gradually reinstate it."
He noted that no rescue plan has been presented for airlines, pointing out that their situation is "not bad."
Relief for Consumers
Energy Secretary Chris Wright clarified yesterday to NBC News that the Trump administration is open to suspending the federal gasoline tax.
U.S. states also impose taxes on gasoline, but Indiana, Kentucky, and Georgia have taken steps to reduce them to ease the burden on consumers at gas stations.
Gasoline prices have risen since the start of the Iranian war on February 28, with data from the American Automobile Association indicating that the average price per gallon reached $4.52 today.
