ذكرت صحيفة التايمز البريطانية، اليوم، أن رئيس الوزراء كير ستارمر سيدعو خلال أيام إلى عقد اجتماع طارئ يضم كبار الوزراء ومحافظ بنك إنجلترا آندرو بيلي لبحث خطط لمساعدة الأسر في مواجهة ارتفاع تكاليف المعيشة الناجم عن الحرب في إيران.
وأحجم متحدث باسم مكتب ستارمر وآخر باسم بنك إنجلترا المركزي عن التعليق على التقرير.
ارتفاع أسعار البنزين
ويتعرض ستارمر لضغوط لمساعدة المستهلكين في المملكة المتحدة بعد أن أدت الحرب الأمريكية الإسرائيلية على إيران إلى ارتفاع أسعار البنزين والطاقة والرهن العقاري.
وتعهد ستارمر أخيراً، بدعم «العاملين» الذين يعانون من ضغوط تكاليف المعيشة التي تفاقمت بسبب الصراع.
وكبداية، قالت الحكومة إنها ستقدم حزمة مالية بقيمة 53 مليون جنيه إسترليني (70 مليون دولار) لمساعدة الأسر الأكثر حاجة على التعامل مع ارتفاع تكلفة وقود التدفئة.
The British newspaper The Times reported today that Prime Minister Keir Starmer will call for an emergency meeting within days that includes senior ministers and Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey to discuss plans to assist families in facing the rising cost of living caused by the war in Iran.
A spokesperson for Starmer's office and another from the Bank of England declined to comment on the report.
Rising Gas Prices
Starmer is under pressure to help consumers in the UK after the American-Israeli war on Iran led to rising gas, energy, and mortgage prices.
Starmer recently pledged to support "workers" who are suffering from the cost of living pressures exacerbated by the conflict.
As a start, the government announced it would provide a financial package of £53 million ($70 million) to help the most needy families cope with the rising cost of heating fuel.
