أعلن وزير السياحة أحمد الخطيب أن السعودية اليوم جاهزة فندقيا لاستضافة كأس العالم. وبين أن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم حضر للسعودية وتأكد من عدد الغرف الفندقية الموجودة اليوم، ومع ذلك فإن السعودية تعمل على إضافة المزيد من الغرف الفندقية بعدد يراوح بين 200 و300 ألف غرفة.
وأشار الوزير الخطيب في جلسة حوارية ضمن منتدى فورتشن 2025، إلى أن السعودية لم تتخذ قرارا حتى الآن بشأن شراء منطقة مطلة على البحر الأحمر في مصر يتم تطويرها حاليا، لافتا إلى أن طاقة البناء والإنشاء السعودية حاليا مشغولة بالوجهات المحلية مثل الدرعية والقدية ووسط جدة.
مبادرات سياحية
وبيّن أن السعودية ترى فرصا لتطوير مبادرات سياحية خارجية ومنفتحة جدا لهذا الأمر، مشيرا إلى رحلات كروز السعودية، وتطوير شركة البحر الأحمر الدولية لوجهة سياحية في إيطاليا.
وذكر أن السعودية تبني المعرفة والمهارات وتستخدمها للبناء في الداخل، لافتا إلى أنه بعد تحقيق المستهدفات في عام 2030 وعام 2035 ستكون لدى السعودية القدرات التي يجب أن تستخدمها وتشاركها مع العالم.
Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb announced that Saudi Arabia is now hotel-ready to host the World Cup. He stated that the International Football Federation has visited Saudi Arabia and confirmed the number of hotel rooms available today; however, Saudi Arabia is working to add more hotel rooms, with an estimated increase of between 200,000 and 300,000 rooms.
The minister, Al-Khateeb, mentioned in a panel discussion at the Fortune 2025 Forum that Saudi Arabia has not yet made a decision regarding the purchase of a waterfront area on the Red Sea in Egypt that is currently under development, noting that Saudi Arabia's construction capacity is currently occupied with local destinations such as Diriyah, Qiddiya, and downtown Jeddah.
Tourism Initiatives
He indicated that Saudi Arabia sees opportunities to develop external tourism initiatives and is very open to this matter, referring to Saudi cruise trips and the development of the Red Sea International Company for a tourist destination in Italy.
He mentioned that Saudi Arabia is building knowledge and skills and using them for domestic development, pointing out that after achieving the targets set for 2030 and 2035, Saudi Arabia will have the capabilities that should be utilized and shared with the world.
