ألغت الولايات المتحدة اليوم (الجمعة) الإعفاءات من الرسوم الجمركية المخصصة للطرود الصغيرة التي تدخل البلاد من الخارج، في خطوة أثارت مخاوف الأعمال التجارية وتحذيرات من ارتفاع الأسعار بالنسبة للمستهلكين.
وأرجعت إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب الخطوة إلى استخدام الشحنات منخفضة القيمة لتجنب الرسوم الجمركية وتهريب المخدرات، بعدما كانت الطرود التي تقدر قيمتها بـ800 دولار أو أقل مستثناة من الرسوم.
وستكون حاليًا الطرود عرضة إما لرسوم تعادل تلك المطبقة على البلدان التي تنتجها، أو لرسوم محددة تتراوح ما بين 80 و200 دولار للسلعة، لكن ما زالت بعض السلع الشخصية والهدايا معفاة من الرسوم، وفقًا لوكالة فرانس برس.
وقال مستشار ترمب للشؤون التجارية بيتر نافارو للصحافيين: «إن سد هذه الثغرة يساعد على الحد من تدفق المخدرات وغيرها من السلع الخطيرة والمحظورة، بينما يدر على الولايات المتحدة المزيد من عائدات الرسوم».
لكن فترة الشهر التي سبقت أمر ترمب أدت إلى موجة قلق.
وأعلنت خدمات البريد في بلدان بينها فرنسا وألمانيا وإيطاليا والهند وأستراليا واليابان في وقت سابق أنها لن تقبل إرسال معظم الطرود المخصصة للولايات المتحدة.
وأفاد «الاتحاد البريدي العالمي» التابع للأمم المتحدة الثلاثاء بأن 25 من مشغلي البريد في البلدان المنضوية فيه علقت الخدمات البريدية إلى الولايات المتحدة.

The United States today (Friday) canceled the exemptions from customs duties designated for small packages entering the country from abroad, a move that has raised concerns among businesses and warnings of rising prices for consumers.
The administration of President Donald Trump attributed the step to the use of low-value shipments to evade customs duties and smuggle drugs, after packages valued at $800 or less were exempt from duties.
Currently, packages will be subject either to duties equivalent to those applied to the countries of origin or to specific fees ranging from $80 to $200 per item, but some personal items and gifts remain exempt from duties, according to Agence France-Presse.
Trump's trade advisor Peter Navarro told reporters: "Closing this loophole helps reduce the flow of drugs and other dangerous and prohibited goods while generating more revenue for the United States from duties."
However, the month-long period leading up to Trump's order has caused a wave of concern.
Postal services in countries including France, Germany, Italy, India, Australia, and Japan previously announced that they would not accept sending most packages destined for the United States.
The Universal Postal Union, a United Nations agency, reported on Tuesday that 25 postal operators in member countries have suspended postal services to the United States.
