أكد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أمس (الثلاثاء) أنه لا يعتزم تمديد موعد نهائي ينقضي في التاسع من شهر يوليو للدول للتفاوض بشأن الاتفاقات التجارية مع الولايات المتحدة، وواصل التعبير عن شكه في إمكان التوصل إلى اتفاق مع اليابان.
وأضاف لصحفيين على متن طائرة الرئاسة أثناء عودته إلى واشنطن من رحلة إلى فلوريدا «نتعامل مع اليابان، ولست متأكدا من أننا سنتوصل إلى اتفاق، أشك في ذلك».
وأشار ترمب إلى أنه قد يفرض رسوما جمركية «30 أو 35% أو أيا كان الرقم الذي نحدده» على الواردات من اليابان، وهي نسبة تزيد كثيرا عن البالغة 24% التي أعلن عنها في الثاني من شهر أبريل قبل أن يوقفها مؤقتا في وقت لاحق، فيما قال إنه من المحتمل أن نبرم صفقة تجارية مع الهند.
وعادت المخاوف بشأن الرسوم الجمركية الأمريكية وتأثيرها على النمو العالمي إلى الظهور مجددًا، مع اقتراب موعد نهائي في التاسع من شهر يوليو لتوصل الدول إلى اتفاقيات مع الولايات المتحدة.

President Donald Trump confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that he does not intend to extend the deadline that expires on July 9 for countries to negotiate trade agreements with the United States, and he continued to express doubt about the possibility of reaching an agreement with Japan.
He added to reporters aboard Air Force One while returning to Washington from a trip to Florida, "We are dealing with Japan, and I'm not sure that we will reach an agreement; I doubt it."
Trump indicated that he might impose tariffs of "30 or 35% or whatever number we decide" on imports from Japan, a rate significantly higher than the 24% announced on April 2 before he temporarily suspended it later, while he mentioned that it is likely we will strike a trade deal with India.
Concerns about U.S. tariffs and their impact on global growth have resurfaced, as the July 9 deadline approaches for countries to reach agreements with the United States.
