يستعد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لتوقيع مرسوم يُقر فيه ببنود الاتفاق التجاري مع بريطانيا الذي تم التوصل إليه الشهر الماضي، وفقاً لوكالات إعلامية.
وذكرت المصادر أن الصيغة النهائية للمرسوم اكتملت بالفعل، لكن لم يتضح بعد ما إذا كان ترمب سيوقع عليه خلال لقائه المرتقب مع رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر على هامش قمة مجموعة السبع.
وبموجب الاتفاق الذي تم التوصل إليه في مايو الماضي، وافقت واشنطن على خفض الرسوم الجمركية المفروضة على السيارات البريطانية من 27.5% إلى 10% لأول 100 ألف سيارة يتم تصديرها سنوياً، إضافة إلى إلغاء رسوم الصلب نهائياً بعدما كانت تبلغ 25%.
وتعهدت لندن بزيادة الحصص المسموح بها للولايات المتحدة لتصدير لحوم الأبقار والإيثانول دون رسوم.
وأكد ستارمر في تصريحات صحفية أن بلاده باتت في المراحل النهائية لتنفيذ الاتفاق التجاري مع واشنطن، متوقعاً استكمال الاتفاق قريباً، وأضاف: «نتحدث عن اتفاق يحمي قطاعات حيوية لدينا، ونحن حريصون على إنجازه في أسرع وقت».

The American President Donald Trump is preparing to sign a decree acknowledging the terms of the trade agreement with Britain that was reached last month, according to media reports.
Sources mentioned that the final draft of the decree has already been completed, but it is still unclear whether Trump will sign it during his anticipated meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
Under the agreement reached last May, Washington agreed to reduce the tariffs imposed on British cars from 27.5% to 10% for the first 100,000 cars exported annually, in addition to completely eliminating steel tariffs which were previously at 25%.
London committed to increasing the quotas allowed for the United States to export beef and ethanol duty-free.
Starmer confirmed in press statements that his country is in the final stages of implementing the trade agreement with Washington, expecting the agreement to be completed soon, and added: "We are talking about an agreement that protects vital sectors for us, and we are eager to finalize it as quickly as possible."
