The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, emphasized the Egyptian government's commitment to not allowing any industrial projects to be established on agricultural lands or within residential areas to protect the agricultural land and ensure food security for future generations.
During his meeting with industrial investors and government officials, he confirmed the state's commitment to implementing genuine industrial development within planned and serviced industrial areas and complexes, which provide the appropriate environment for sustainable development.
He called on investors to prioritize the public interest and consider the state's interests first, stressing that preserving agricultural land is a shared national responsibility, and that the state spares no effort in creating an attractive investment climate.
During the meeting, several investors raised the issue of frequent interruptions and fluctuations in electricity supply in the industrial area of Wadi El-Natrun, which poses a major challenge to the continued and efficient operation of factories.
The minister directed swift coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and the relevant electricity distribution companies to find urgent and sustainable solutions, along with preparing a clear technical plan to strengthen the electrical network in the area and meet the current and future needs of investors, ensuring the stability of the energy required to operate the factories and preventing production disruptions.
The minister also confirmed that coordination will take place with the internal and international land transport authority to provide public transport lines for transporting workers from the towns and villages of Wadi El-Natrun to the industrial area, as part of a comprehensive plan to develop infrastructure and support investment in Wadi El-Natrun.
In light of enhancing the industrial investment environment and ensuring its sustainability, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport confirmed that the state will continue to prevent land speculation "buying land to build an industrial project and then offering it for sale," as decisive measures will be taken against trading in lands designated for industrial activity.
The minister also urged investors to ensure they have the necessary financial capacity before starting their projects, and the importance of preparing comprehensive technical and economic feasibility studies to ensure the viability and sustainability of industrial projects.
