حذّر رئيس الوزراء الفرنسي فرانسوا بايرو من أن فرط المديونية في فرنسا يهدد استقرار الدولة واقتصادها، وذلك قبل تصويت على الثقة من المرجح أن يخسره في وقت لاحق، ما قد يدفع ثاني أكبر اقتصاد في منطقة اليورو إلى مزيد من الاضطراب.
وأكد بايرو أمام البرلمان أن أي حكومة لاحقة ستواجه المشكلات نفسها، وقال مخاطباً النواب: «لديكم القدرة على إسقاط الحكومة، لكن ليس لديكم القدرة على طمس الواقع، سيظل الواقع قاسياً، فالنفقات ستواصل الارتفاع، وعبء الدين، الذي هو كبير جداً بالفعل، سيزداد ثِقلاً وكلفة».
وبايرو هو رابع رئيس وزراء يعينه الرئيس إيمانويل ماكرون في أقل من عامين. وقد دعا إلى التصويت على الثقة في ظل الضغوط الشديدة التي تواجهها فرنسا لإصلاح أوضاعها المالية، بعد أن بلغ عجز الميزانية العام الماضي نحو مثلي الحد الأقصى لنسبة العجز من الناتج الاقتصادي التي حددها الاتحاد الأوروبي بـ3%، فيما بلغ الدين العام 113.9% من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي.
معالجة الدين
وأوضحت أحزاب المعارضة أنها لا تتفق معه بشأن كيفية معالجة الدين، وستصوّت ضد حكومة الأقلية التي يرأسها. ويبدو أن الانهيار الوشيك لحكومة الأقلية سيفاقم حالة الشلل التي تشهدها فرنسا في وقت حرج بالنسبة لأوروبا، التي تسعى إلى الوحدة في مواجهة حرب روسيا ضد أوكرانيا، وتنامي نفوذ الصين، والتوتر التجاري مع أمريكا.

French Prime Minister François Bayrou warned that excessive debt in France threatens the stability of the state and its economy, just before a confidence vote that he is likely to lose later, which could push the second-largest economy in the Eurozone into further turmoil.
Bayrou confirmed before Parliament that any subsequent government will face the same problems, addressing the lawmakers: "You have the power to bring down the government, but you do not have the power to obscure reality; reality will remain harsh, as expenses will continue to rise, and the debt burden, which is already very large, will increase in weight and cost."
Bayrou is the fourth Prime Minister appointed by President Emmanuel Macron in less than two years. He called for a confidence vote amid the intense pressures facing France to reform its financial situation, after last year's budget deficit reached nearly double the maximum deficit-to-GDP ratio set by the European Union at 3%, while public debt stood at 113.9% of GDP.

The opposition parties have made it clear that they do not agree with him on how to manage the debt and will vote against the minority government he leads. The imminent collapse of the minority government seems likely to exacerbate the paralysis that France is experiencing at a critical time for Europe, which is seeking unity in the face of Russia's war against Ukraine, the growing influence of China, and trade tensions with America.
