أعلن وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت، اليوم، أن الضغط الاقتصادي الإضافي من الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا يمكن أن يدفع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين إلى الدخول في محادثات سلام مع أوكرانيا.
وقال بيسنت في برنامج «ميت ذا برس» على قناة «إن بي سي»: «إذا تمكنت الولايات المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي من التدخل وفرض المزيد من العقوبات والرسوم الجمركية الثانوية على الدول التي تشتري النفط الروسي، فإن الاقتصاد الروسي سيصبح في حالة انهيار كامل، وهذا سيجلب الرئيس بوتين إلى طاولة المفاوضات».
زيادة الضغط
وأوضح أن إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب «مستعدة لزيادة الضغط على روسيا»، لكنه قال: «نحن بحاجة إلى أن يتبعنا شركاؤنا الأوروبيون، لأنه إذا قامت الولايات المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي بذلك معاً، فسنصبح في سباق بين إلى متى يمكن للجيش الأوكراني أن يصمد مقابل المدة التي يصمد فيها الاقتصاد الروسي».

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent announced today that additional economic pressure from the United States and Europe could push Russian President Vladimir Putin to enter peace talks with Ukraine.
Pisent said on the "Meet the Press" program on NBC: "If the United States and the European Union can intervene and impose more sanctions and secondary tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil, the Russian economy will be in complete collapse, and this will bring President Putin to the negotiating table."
Increasing Pressure
He explained that the administration of President Donald Trump "is ready to increase pressure on Russia," but he said: "We need our European partners to follow us, because if the United States and the European Union do this together, we will be in a race between how long the Ukrainian army can hold out against how long the Russian economy can hold out."
