انكمش النشاط الصناعي في الصين في أغسطس الجاري، مسجلًا خمسة أشهر متتالية من التراجع، وفقًا لمسح رسمي، بعد تمديد الرسوم التجارية بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والصين لمدة 90 يوماً أخرى.
وقالت الهيئة الوطنية للإحصاء: «إن مؤشر مديري المشتريات الصيني في قطاع التصنيع ارتفع من 3.49 في يوليو الماضي إلى 4.49 في أغسطس، ما يشير إلى تباطؤ التراجع عن الشهر السابق».
وتشير قراءة المؤشر أقل من 50 نقطة إلى انكماش النشاط الاقتصادي للقطاع، في حين تشير قراءة أكثر من 50 نقطة إلى نمو النشاط.
وتعد الصناعة في الصين واحدةً من أكثر القطاعات التي يعتمد عليها الصينيّون في اقتصادهم، إذ تُعتبر الصين واحدة من أكبر الدول الصناعيّة في القارة الآسيويّة والعالم، ويشكل الناتج المحلي من القطاع مقدار 72.8%؛ حيث تنتج الصناعات التحويلة سنوياً نسبة 44.1% من الناتج الإجمالي، ويأتي ذلك بعد سلسلة من الإصلاحات الاقتصاديّة التي قامت بها الحكومة لزيادة نسبة الإنتاج في القطاع بالتعاون مع العديد من الشركات التي تشرف عليها الحكومة المحليّة، وساهم ذلك في استقطاب أصحاب المشاريع الخاصّة، والمستثمرين الأجانب إلى البلاد.

Industrial activity in China contracted in August, marking five consecutive months of decline, according to an official survey, following the extension of trade tariffs between the United States and China for another 90 days.
The National Bureau of Statistics stated: "The Chinese manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose from 3.49 in July to 4.49 in August, indicating a slowdown in the decline from the previous month."
A reading of the index below 50 points indicates a contraction in economic activity in the sector, while a reading above 50 points indicates growth in activity.
The industry in China is one of the most relied-upon sectors in the Chinese economy, as China is considered one of the largest industrial countries in Asia and the world. The sector contributes 72.8% to the gross domestic product; the manufacturing industries account for 44.1% of the total output annually.
