ارتفعت أسعار النفط بعد أن قال المستشار التجاري للبيت الأبيض بيتر نافارو، إن مشتريات الهند من النفط الخام الروسي تمول حرب موسكو في أوكرانيا ويتعين وقفها.
ويترقب المتعاملون أيضاً مؤشرات من اجتماع منتظر في وقت لاحق بين الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، ونظيره الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، في محاولة للتوصل إلى اتفاق سلام لإنهاء أكثر الحروب دموية في أوروبا منذ 80 عاماً.
وصعدت العقود الآجلة لخام برنت 20 سنتاً، بما يعادل 0.3%، إلى 66.05 دولار للبرميل، في حين صعد خام غرب تكساس الوسيط 28 سنتاً، أو 0.45%، إلى 63.08 دولار للبرميل.
وجددت تعليقات نافارو المخاوف إزاء تدفقات الإمدادات. وقال نافارو: «تعمل الهند كغرفة مقاصة عالمية للنفط الروسي، إذ تحول النفط الخام المحظور إلى صادرات عالية القيمة مع منح موسكو الدولارات التي تحتاج إليها».
وقال المحلل لدى «إس.إي.بي» أولي هفالبي، إن التصريح أثار بعض الاهتمام بالشراء في السوق. وسيجتمع ترمب مع زيلينسكي في الساعة 17:15 بتوقيت غرينتش، ثم مع قادة أوروبيين آخرين في الساعة 1900 بتوقيت غرينتش.
ويترقب المستثمرون أيضاً تصريحات رئيس مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي (البنك المركزي الأمريكي) جيروم باول، في اجتماع جاكسون هول هذا الأسبوع للبحث عن مؤشرات حول مسار أسعار الفائدة.

Oil prices rose after White House trade advisor Peter Navarro stated that India's purchases of Russian crude oil are funding Moscow's war in Ukraine and should be stopped.
Traders are also awaiting signals from a meeting later between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an attempt to reach a peace agreement to end the deadliest war in Europe in 80 years.
Brent crude futures rose by 20 cents, or 0.3%, to $66.05 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude increased by 28 cents, or 0.45%, to $63.08 a barrel.
Navarro's comments renewed concerns about supply flows. He stated, "India is acting as a global clearinghouse for Russian oil, turning banned crude into high-value exports while giving Moscow the dollars it needs."
Olli Havalpi, an analyst at SEB, noted that the statement sparked some buying interest in the market. Trump is set to meet with Zelensky at 17:15 GMT, followed by meetings with other European leaders at 19:00 GMT.
Investors are also looking forward to remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell at this week's Jackson Hole meeting for indications on the interest rate path.
