أنهت شبكة CBS News تعاقدها مع المراسل المخضرم لبرنامج «60 دقيقة» سكوت بيلي، في أحدث حلقة من سلسلة تغييرات واسعة تشهدها المؤسسة الإعلامية الأمريكية خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة.
إنهاء خدمات فوري
ووفقاً لمصادر داخل الشبكة، تلقى بيلي رسالة رسمية من المنتج التنفيذي الجديد للبرنامج نيك بيلتون، أبلغه فيها بإنهاء خدمته بشكل فوري.
وجاء في الرسالة أن موقف بيلي المعارض للتوجهات الجديدة للبرنامج أصبح واضحاً للإدارة، وأن الشبكة قررت إنهاء علاقة العمل معه «لأسباب مهنية»، وفق ما ورد في المذكرة الداخلية، ولم يصدر أي تعليق من بيلي بشأن القرار.
خلافات وانتقادات
وتأتي الإقالة في ظل تقارير إعلامية تحدثت عن خلافات حادة بين بيلي وإدارة الشبكة، بعدما وجه انتقادات علنية إلى رئيسة التحرير الجديدة باري وايس، واتهمها بالمسؤولية عن تراجع البرنامج وتغيير هويته التحريرية.
وفي مذكرة موجهة إلى العاملين في «60 دقيقة»، أقر بيلتون بأن البرنامج يمر بفترة تغييرات متسارعة، مشيراً إلى أن المؤسسة شهدت قدراً كبيراً من التحولات خلال فترة قصيرة.
قائمة المغادرين
ويُعد بيلي أحدث المنضمين إلى قائمة المغادرين من البرنامج الشهير، بعد رحيل أكثر من 6 من كبار العاملين فيه خلال الأسابيع الماضية، بينهم المنتجة التنفيذية السابقة تانيا سيمون، إضافة إلى المراسلتين شارين ألفونسي وسيسيليا فيغا.
وأتمّت شركة سكاي دانس ميديا، التي يديرها ديفيد إليسون، نجل لاري إليسون المؤسس المشارك لشركة أوراكل وأحد الداعمين منذ سنوات للرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، صفقة الاستحواذ على شركة باراماونت في أغسطس الماضي، قبل أن تعيّن باري فايس رئيسةً للتحرير في أكتوبر.
وساعد ديفيد إليسون في الحصول على الموافقات التنظيمية اللازمة لإتمام الصفقة، التي أسفرت عن إنشاء كيان إعلامي جديد يحمل اسم باراماونت سكاي دانس، وذلك في إطار تعهد بأن تعكس شبكة سي بي إس تنوع التوجهات الفكرية والسياسية للمشاهدين الأمريكيين.
وقبل إتمام الصفقة، دفعت شركة باراماونت مبلغ 16 مليون دولار لتسوية دعوى قضائية كان قد رفعها دونالد ترمب عام 2024 على خلفية مقابلة أجراها برنامج «60 دقيقة» مع نائبة الرئيس الأمريكية السابقة كامالا هاريس، إذ اعتبر ترمب أن المقابلة قدمت صورة منحازة ومشوهة لمنافسته في السباق إلى البيت الأبيض.
ويرى مراقبون أن رحيل بيلي يمثل محطة جديدة في عملية إعادة هيكلة واسعة داخل واحدة من أكثر المؤسسات الإخبارية نفوذاً في الولايات المتحدة، وسط جدل متواصل حول مستقبل برنامج «60 دقيقة» وهويته التحريرية في ظل الإدارة الجديدة.
CBS News has terminated its contract with veteran correspondent for "60 Minutes," Scott Pelley, in the latest episode of a series of significant changes taking place at the American media organization in recent weeks.
Immediate Termination of Services
According to sources within the network, Pelley received an official message from the new executive producer of the program, Nick Bilton, informing him of the immediate termination of his services.
The message stated that Pelley's opposition to the new directions of the program had become clear to management, and the network decided to end its working relationship with him "for professional reasons," according to the internal memo, and no comment has been issued by Pelley regarding the decision.
Disputes and Criticism
The dismissal comes amid media reports of sharp disagreements between Pelley and the network's management, after he publicly criticized the new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, accusing her of being responsible for the program's decline and changing its editorial identity.
In a memo addressed to the staff of "60 Minutes," Bilton acknowledged that the program is undergoing a period of rapid changes, noting that the organization has experienced a significant amount of transformations in a short time.
List of Departures
Pelley is the latest addition to the list of departures from the famous program, following the exit of more than six senior staff members in recent weeks, including former executive producer Tanya Simon, as well as correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega.
Sky Dance Media, managed by David Ellison, the son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and a long-time supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, completed the acquisition of Paramount in August, before appointing Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief in October.
David Ellison assisted in obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals to finalize the deal, which resulted in the creation of a new media entity named Paramount Sky Dance, as part of a commitment to reflect the diversity of ideological and political perspectives of American viewers.
Before finalizing the deal, Paramount paid $16 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump in 2024 related to an interview conducted by "60 Minutes" with former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, as Trump considered the interview to present a biased and distorted image of his competitor in the race for the White House.
Observers believe that Pelley's departure represents a new milestone in a broad restructuring process within one of the most influential news organizations in the United States, amid ongoing debate about the future of "60 Minutes" and its editorial identity under the new management.
