In a controversial move, the Russian streaming platform (Start) launched its first locally produced comedy series, titled (Fyofan), with characters entirely designed using artificial intelligence; making it the first Russian dramatic work to blend art with modern technologies in this way. The series premiered at the (New Season) festival in Sochi, where neural networks were used to create the characters and design their features, with the exception of the cat character (Matvey), which was crafted to appear closer to reality. The director of the work, Ilya Plutnikov, explained that the goal was to test the ability of artificial intelligence to create characters with convincing comedic presence, while the production manager at (Start) studios emphasized that artistic decisions remained in the hands of the human team to maintain the creative essence. The series consists of short episodes not exceeding 10 minutes, satirizing contemporary life phenomena and pop culture, and poses a profound question about the future roles of humans in a world where the participation of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry is increasing.
