The American star Angelina Jolie has closed a long chapter of her life in Los Angeles after selling her historic mansion in the Los Feliz area for $24.75 million; about five million dollars less than the price she listed it for in the market a few months ago.
The sale comes about five months after the property was listed at a price close to $30 million, marking the departure of one of Hollywood's most famous historic homes. Jolie purchased the mansion in 2017 for $24.5 million, a year after her separation from Brad Pitt.
The house dates back over a century, having been designed in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett, before being bought by the famous director Cecil B. DeMille in 1916, with his family remaining associated with it until the late 1980s. The main house spans nearly 11,000 square feet and includes six bedrooms and ten bathrooms, along with extensive amenities that feature a separate guest house, a studio with a private entrance, a 40-foot swimming pool, a pool house, a fitness studio, a tea house, a security station, and a basement that includes service and laundry rooms.
The property is characterized by expansive green spaces and trees that are over a century old, as well as direct views of the Hollywood Hills and its famous sign, along with Griffith Observatory, giving it an architectural style from the Beaux-Arts school that reflects its history spanning more than a hundred years.
Jolie's decision to sell the house is linked to her plans to leave Los Angeles and live outside the United States, after her twins Knox and Vivienne turned 18 in July. She had previously indicated that she stayed in the city due to the divorce proceedings and her desire to provide privacy and security for her six children.
