عاد «مسرح الفن» إلى الواجهة من جديد، لكن هذه المرة على خلفية جدل حول طبيعة العروض التي تستضيفها خشبته، في ظل ارتباط المكان بتاريخ مسرحي طويل أسسه المخرج الراحل جلال الشرقاوي، وارتبط بأعمال وفنانين تركوا حضوراً بارزاً في المسرح المصري.
وبدأت الأزمة بعدما عبر الفنان المصري عمرو عبد العزيز عن اعتراضه على ما وصفه بتراجع مستوى بعض العروض المقدمة على المسرح، معتبراً أن استضافة أشخاص يقدمون عروضاً تعتمد على تقليد نجوم معروفين لا تتناسب، من وجهة نظره، مع المكان وتاريخه الفني.
عمرو عبد العزيز يفتح ملف المسرح
واستعاد عبد العزيز عبر حسابه على «فيسبوك» جانباً من تاريخ «مسرح الفن»، مشيراً إلى الأعمال التي قدمت على خشبته، ومنها «الجوكر»، و«عطية الإرهابية»، و«على الرصيف»، و«انقلاب»، إلى جانب أسماء فنية بارزة قدمت عروضها من خلاله، بينهم عبد المنعم مدبولي، وسهير البابلي، ومحمد صبحي، وأحمد بدير، ويحيى الفخراني.
«لو موهوبين كنت أول واحد أشجعهم»
وأوضح الفنان أن موقفه لا يستهدف المواهب الشابة أو فكرة إتاحة الفرصة أمام وجوه جديدة، مؤكداً أنه كان سيحرص على دعم أي شخص يمتلك موهبة حقيقية في التمثيل.
وقال إن اعتراضه مرتبط بطبيعة ما يقدم على خشبة المسرح، وليس بمجرد ظهور أشخاص جدد، مؤكداً أن وجود موهبة حقيقية كان سيجعله من أوائل المشجعين لها.
عبير الشرقاوي تكشف كواليس التأجير
وفي الجهة المقابلة، قدمت الفنانة المعتزلة عبير الشرقاوي، شقيقة جلال الشرقاوي، توضيحات عن الأسباب التي تدفع إدارة المسرح إلى تأجيره أحياناً لفترات قصيرة.
وأوضحت أن ارتفاع تكاليف الإيجار والتشغيل يفرض تحديات كبيرة، لذلك تتم الاستعانة بتأجير المسرح لمدة يوم أو يومين لاستضافة عروض للأطفال أو مسرحيات تابعة للجامعات، بهدف المساهمة في تغطية التكاليف والحفاظ على استمرار تشغيل المكان.
شروط للحفاظ على المسرح
وشددت عبير الشرقاوي في منشور عبر حساباتها الشخصية على أن تأجير المسرح لا يعني فتح أبوابه أمام أي محتوى، مؤكدة وجود شروط تحكم طبيعة الأعمال التي تستضيفها خشبته، من بينها عدم السماح بتقديم أعمال تتضمن إسفافاً، مشيرة إلى أن الهدف هو تحقيق التوازن بين الحفاظ على استمرار المكان وتحمل أعبائه المالية.

وبين انتقادات عمرو عبد العزيز وتوضيحات عبير الشرقاوي، عاد «مسرح الفن» إلى دائرة الضوء، ليفتح الجدل مجدداً حول كيفية الحفاظ على إرث جلال الشرقاوي، في الوقت الذي تواجه فيه المسارح الخاصة تحديات مرتبطة بتكاليف التشغيل واستمرار النشاط.
The "Art Theater" has returned to the forefront once again, but this time against the backdrop of a controversy regarding the nature of the performances hosted on its stage, given the venue's long theatrical history established by the late director Jalal El-Sharkawy, and its association with works and artists who have made a significant presence in Egyptian theater.
The crisis began when Egyptian artist Amr Abdel Aziz expressed his objection to what he described as a decline in the quality of some performances presented on stage, considering that hosting individuals who present shows that rely on imitating well-known stars does not align, in his view, with the venue and its artistic history.
Amr Abdel Aziz Opens the Theater File
Abdel Aziz recalled through his Facebook account a part of the history of the "Art Theater," pointing to the works that have been presented on its stage, including "The Joker," "The Terrorist Gift," "On the Sidewalk," and "Coup," along with prominent artistic names who have presented their shows through it, including Abdel Moneim Madbouly, Suhair El-Babli, Mohamed Sobhi, Ahmed Bedir, and Yehia El-Fakharany.
"If They Were Talented, I Would Be the First to Support Them"
The artist clarified that his position does not target young talents or the idea of giving opportunities to new faces, emphasizing that he would have been keen to support anyone with genuine talent in acting.
He stated that his objection is related to the nature of what is presented on stage, not merely the appearance of new individuals, affirming that the presence of real talent would have made him one of its first supporters.
Abir El-Sharkawy Reveals the Rental Behind the Scenes
On the other hand, retired artist Abir El-Sharkawy, sister of Jalal El-Sharkawy, provided clarifications about the reasons that lead the theater management to rent it out sometimes for short periods.
She explained that the rising costs of rent and operation impose significant challenges, which is why the theater is occasionally rented for a day or two to host children's shows or university-related plays, aiming to help cover costs and maintain the venue's operation.
Conditions to Preserve the Theater
Abir El-Sharkawy emphasized in a post on her personal accounts that renting the theater does not mean opening its doors to any content, confirming that there are conditions governing the nature of the works hosted on its stage, including not allowing the presentation of works that involve vulgarity, pointing out that the goal is to achieve a balance between maintaining the venue's continuity and bearing its financial burdens.

Amidst Amr Abdel Aziz's criticisms and Abir El-Sharkawy's clarifications, the "Art Theater" has returned to the spotlight, reigniting the debate on how to preserve Jalal El-Sharkawy's legacy, at a time when private theaters face challenges related to operating costs and the continuity of activities.
