توفي اليوم الإعلامي جمال ريان، أحد أبرز الوجوه التي ارتبط اسمها بتاريخ قناة الجزيرة منذ تأسيسها، عن عمر ناهز 73 عاماً، بعد مسيرة إعلامية امتدت لأكثر من 5 عقود، شكّل خلالها علامة فارقة في تقديم الأخبار والبرامج السياسية.

ويُعد ريان أحد مؤسسي قناة الجزيرة، وأول مذيع ظهر على شاشة الجزيرة عند انطلاقها في 1996، وقدم حينها النشرة الافتتاحية التي مثلت بداية مرحلة جديدة في الإعلام العربي. وعلى مدى نحو 3 عقود من الزمن ظل ريان أحد رموز القناة وأكثر وجوهها شهرة وحضوراً.

ولد جمال ريان بمدينة طولكرم في فلسطين المحتلة في 23 أغسطس، ويحمل الجنسية الأردنية.
بدأ مسيرته الإعلامية مذيعاً للأخبار والبرامج السياسية في الإذاعة والتلفزيون الأردني عام 1974، وتنقل بين محطات إعلامية عربية ودولية، منها هيئة الإذاعة الكورية الجنوبية، وتلفزيون الإمارات، وهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية.

Jamal Rayan was born in Tulkarm, in the occupied Palestinian territories, on August 23, and holds Jordanian citizenship.
He began his media career as a news and political program presenter at the Jordanian Radio and Television in 1974, and moved between various Arab and international media outlets, including the Korean Broadcasting System, Emirates Television, and the British Broadcasting Corporation.
