قرر مهرجان مالمو للسينما العربية تكريم المخرج السعودي عبد الله المحيسن ضمن فعاليات دورته الـ16، المقامة في مدينة مالمو بالسويد خلال الفترة من 10 إلى 16 أبريل 2026، تقديرًا لمسيرته الطويلة ودوره في تأسيس الحركة السينمائية في السعودية.
عرض فيلم وماستر كلاس
تشهد الفعاليات عرض فيلمه الوثائقي «اغتيال مدينة»، يعقبه ماستر كلاس مع المخرج، يتحدث خلاله عن تجربته الممتدة منذ بدايات السينما السعودية، مستعرضًا أبرز محطات مسيرته والأعمال التي تركت بصمة في تاريخها.
تقدير لمسيرة رائدة
وأكد رئيس المهرجان محمد قبلاوي أن التكريم يأتي تقديرًا لمكانة المحيسن كأحد رواد السينما العربية، ولإتاحة الفرصة للجمهور للتعرّف على رؤيته الفنية.
سعادة بالتكريم
من جانبه، عبر المحيسن عن سعادته، معتبرًا المهرجان منصة للحوار الثقافي بين العالم العربي وأوروبا، وفرصة لمشاركة تجربته مع جمهور جديد.
يشار إلى أن المخرج السعودي عبد الله المحيسن بدأ مسيرته الفنية في سبعينات القرن الـ20، مقدمًا أفلامًا وثائقية وروائية تتناول القضايا العربية والإنسانية، حيث ركز في أعماله على تصوير الواقع العربي من منظور نقدي وواقعي، ما جعله أحد رواد السينما السعودية.
The Malmö Arab Film Festival has decided to honor Saudi director Abdullah Al-Muhaisen during the events of its 16th edition, taking place in Malmö, Sweden, from April 10 to 16, 2026, in recognition of his long career and his role in establishing the film movement in Saudi Arabia.
Film Screening and Master Class
The events will feature a screening of his documentary film "Assassination of a City," followed by a master class with the director, in which he will discuss his experience since the beginnings of Saudi cinema, highlighting the key milestones of his career and the works that have left a mark in its history.
A Tribute to a Pioneering Career
The festival's president, Mohamed Qablawi, confirmed that the honor comes in recognition of Al-Muhaisen's status as one of the pioneers of Arab cinema, and to provide the audience with the opportunity to learn about his artistic vision.
Happiness with the Honor
For his part, Al-Muhaisen expressed his happiness, considering the festival a platform for cultural dialogue between the Arab world and Europe, and an opportunity to share his experience with a new audience.
It is worth noting that Saudi director Abdullah Al-Muhaisen began his artistic career in the 1970s, presenting documentary and narrative films that address Arab and humanitarian issues, where he focused in his works on portraying Arab reality from a critical and realistic perspective, making him one of the pioneers of Saudi cinema.
