منعت عملية اعتقال الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو وإغلاق الأجواء في منطقة الكاريبي النجم الأمريكي ليوناردو دي كابريو من استلام جائزة «ديزرت بالم» ضمن مهرجان «بالم سبرينغز» السينمائي الدولي المقام بمركز مؤتمرات بالم سبرينغز.
حصار جوي
دي كابريو (51 عاماً) كان يقضي عطلة رأس السنة في جزيرة «سانت بارتس» برفقة صديقته فيتوريا سيريتي وتوم برادي، ووجد نفسه محاصراً بقرار إغلاق الأجواء في منطقة الكاريبي، ما اضطره للتغيب عن حفل توزيع جوائز المهرجان، إذ كان مقرراً تسلمه جائزة «ديزرت بالم» للإنجاز عن أدائه المذهل في أحدث أفلامه.
وقال متحدث باسم المهرجان: «لن يتمكن ليوناردو دي كابريو من الانضمام إلينا شخصياً الليلة، بسبب اضطرابات السفر غير المتوقعة وتقييد المجال الجوي. مع أننا سنفتقد الاحتفال معه شخصياً، إلا أننا نتشرف بتكريم عمله الاستثنائي وإسهاماته الدائمة في عالم السينما».
قلق في «الغولدن غلوب»
وفيما ترافق الإغلاق الجوي مع أعطال تقنية في مطارات جنوب كاليفورنيا، تسود حالة من الترقب في الأوساط الفنية، لاسيما مع اقتراب موعد حفل «جوائز اختيار النقاد» وحفل «الغولدن غلوب» الأسبوع القادم.
وأصدر مطار بالم سبرينغز الدولي بياناً أكد فيه أن توقف الرحلات المغادرة أثّر في معظم مطارات جنوبي كاليفورنيا.

DiCaprio (51 years old) was spending New Year's vacation on the island of "Saint Barts" with his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti and Tom Brady, and found himself trapped by the decision to close airspace in the Caribbean, which forced him to miss the awards ceremony of the festival, where he was set to receive the "Desert Palm" award for his outstanding performance in his latest film.
A spokesperson for the festival said: "Leonardo DiCaprio will not be able to join us in person tonight due to unexpected travel disruptions and airspace restrictions. While we will miss celebrating with him in person, we are honored to recognize his exceptional work and lasting contributions to the world of cinema."
Concerns at the "Golden Globe"
As the air closure coincided with technical malfunctions at airports in Southern California, there is a sense of anticipation in artistic circles, especially with the upcoming "Critics' Choice Awards" and "Golden Globe" ceremony next week.
Palm Springs International Airport issued a statement confirming that the halt in departing flights affected most airports in Southern California.
